Three Shows This Year..... & Pearl Jam was the Worst

Not that they were bad or anything. The Pepsi Center is a shitty venue and Tom Petty isn't worth seeing. And the prices were ridiculous, but this is all old news. Pearl Jam really rocked for an "opening band," and we even saw Leash. I felt like a jackass not knowing what the song was, just because I had already dismissed any chance of seeing this song months ago, when I heard the shows were with Petty. Unfortunately, all the highlights of the show were older songs, particularly off Ten & VS. Even Flow, Black, Why Go, and Leash were the definite highlights. Insignificance was special for me, and that was the best version ever. Severed Hand was the best new song, but WWS is shit.
I saw Primus & Tool this year, and there are no highlights for either show. That is because of how fucking incredible they were. Life changing experiences! Its strange that Tool and Primus were both headliners, and their setlists were pretty much the same length as Pearl Jam being an opening band. Pearl Jam had a weak crowd, and the sound wasn't very loud, even though they were spot on. I guess there is no point to this post. So, sorry you read it.

You're an idiot. You've contradicted yourself about 4 times. You didn't know what Leash was.... yet the highlights were the songs off Vs & Ten? I've also heard that Tool don't change their setlists up much at all.

    I think you're a casual fan.

You now, I don't mind opinions...whether they praise or they slag Pearl Jam, I don't mind at all...Pearl Jam is hardly perfect.

    But I do mind pointlessness.

And if you found a Tool show a life changing event, I wouldn't expect you to appreciate Tom Petty.

(I'm not slagging Tool btw, just trying to make a point:) )

God forbid if someone didn't enjoy a Pearl Jam show!

Because they really need to come and post the fact on a PJ forum, especially when it's clear that he/she/it is a casual fan who has no idea what's going on with Pearl Jam. If this person prefers the predictability of a Tool show or wasting time and money on never-beens like Primus, I have no problem with it, but maybe try posting that on one of their message boards.

Its not that i didnt know leash. I didnt believe it would ever be played in denver, especially with the band being reduced to opener (they should have headlined, their greatness may have actually shined). When it came on, since I had already dismissed it as a possibility, it didn't recognize it for a few seconds. My biggest complaint would have to have been the dull, yet pretentious, crowd, which may very well be a reflection of this pit.

i enjoyed pearl jam more than i did tool.

i also think its possible to like tool and tom petty.

crowd could have been weak for a number of reasons, eg the tom petty crowd

The general reaction to this thread is near to fascism....what the fuck is happening?...the man is posting his opinion....and it is not, by any means, a lack of respect to the band...

p.d.. and also....a 3000 and so posts person, its not a "casual fan"...let´s be a little more open minded
  • if you saw pearl jam as the headline it would be different

agree.. you have to expect when they play with another band that they are not
    1. going to play long and
    2. going to hog the spot light
everyone knows that PJ is the best... when they headline... I though Oahu was amazing.. they warmed up for U2.. played what 50 minutes... but it was amazing

I'm trying to make a point, Tool sucks.

But really, sorry you actually think that about the Pearl Jam shows.
  • so um i saw PJ 9 times this tour...

i also saw primus this year in NYC...

the crowd at primus was the worst crowd i've ever been around in my entire life. I've never seen so many drunken idiots in one room. As soon as the band came out i was literally crushed against a near 400 lb. Dale Ernhart fan. After the 3rd song they had to take a 15 min break to reset the baracade in the front b/c so many people were rushing it... i thought i was going to die... honestly. it was probably the worst concert experience of my life. I swam through a sea of people to the back of the venue and watched the rest of the show from there... i would never want this experience at a Pearl Jam concert... so if your idea of a good crowd is this type of crowd then you can stfu b/c i dont want to be a part of it.

Btw i really love primus and this was my first time seeing them... they're excellent live but in my eyes 11 pj songs live tops the 11 they played any day.

No you didn't, you dickhead. You're only saying this know b/c you got flamed.
