Forty-five years ago, Dr. Lester Grinspoon, now an associate professor emeritus of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, would have never agreed with the idea of marijuana as a medicine. He thought his friends who lit up were ruining their health. Who would blame him? The U.S. government seemed to agree. In 1970, it classified marijuana as a Schedule I drug—alongside heroin and LSD—as a substance with high abuse potential and no accepted medical purpose....but..

The thing is, Godfather, smoking isn't the only way to use marijuana. It can be ingested when cooked, made into a butter, or vaporized. Besides, with the higher potency bud, a puff or two is going to be less problematic for the lungs than just plain breathing in a lot of places.

Oh, and why is it that I find it surprising that FOX News would publish an anti-pot article?

    Drugs Are Really Excellent?
    Drugs Always Rouse Eating?
    Drugs Activate Radical Elevation?

    I can't remember.

My preferred method is smoking it; I just dig the process / ritual, not to mention the result. But when Danny had his lung surgeries (and was in pain, desperately trying not to go the Vicodin route), I'd make him "firecrackers" - long process cut short, crackers with Nutella/peanut butter and semi-cooked weed. A different, deeper high. But damned if it didn't provide him relief.

Once again, the more advertisements I see for drugs for antidepressants, fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc., and the ridiculous side-effects, I'm floored that something with so many benefits is still, in this supposedly-enlightened age, villified.

Exactly! We're bombarded in the media with ads for these frankenchemicals and yet here good old Mother Nature has provided us with something wonderfully helpful that has had a bad rap for decade upon decade. I'm encouraged though to know that we're finally getting closer to acceptance and maybe even legalization. I would love to live to see that happen.

And I hope your Danny is ok- not sure I remember hearing about this.

What people put into their own bodies should be their own business ... no one else's. What always amazes is that most of the folks against marijuana use are the christian right wing ... marijuana is grown here on earth and if your a member of one of those cults (religion or political group or both) then you'd say God put it on earth for people to enjoy if he chooses ... so by not allowing people who choose to enjoy the pleasure ... are you then not questioning God, and I thought God was all knowing and powerful, and your questioning him... :nono: :nono: :nono:

I find that any title to an article on Fox News with the word "Truth" in it, is definitely a lie.

I've been on a number of ridiculous pain killers while recovering. Not one drug had zero side effects. But weed? If hunger counts as a side effect, that's as bad as it gets. Seriously. Oh, and that it intensifies nerve pain. Only one drug worked for that sort of Hell!

I never did care for smoking it but I never thought about vaporizing it. Hmmm, I use a vaporizer for my essential oils, that could be interesting. Although, I like the idea of making an infused oil and cooking with it - brownies anyone :D
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Be careful, though. I ate a brownie once and after almost an hour-- nothing. So I ate another brownie and two minute later- WHAM! - and then an hour later... I was in b-a-a-a-a-d shape!

I just wish I could gauge (gage?) (yes, I'm high  ) how eating it would affect me vs smoking it.

I've tried a vaporizer too, but it didn't seem to do anything.

Vaporizer is good. Takes a while for me then hits me like a ton of bricks
