Still bitter I could not go to that show.

I remember talking to a friend after... I said Brother must have been sweet. He said the crowd was dead and couldn't get into it. Interesting.

I do think that a show experience is effected by the crowd reaction of the band. It is definitely a perspective thing... all of the Ten-Clubbers in the front might have been rocking out while those spread throughout the arena may have had a different feeling.

Loved this show. I remember that torrential rain beforehand.
I was near McCready when he ran 10 rows deep into the crowd during the encore. fun times.

Since next week is the 3 year mark, does anyone know where I'll be able to download it? for whatever reason, I never picked it up.

    Thanks.

    It's in goods.

    AWESOME SHOW!!

I was there with my sister, who isn't a big fan but considering we won the 11th row,
she knew the rules that she had to keep up with everyone around, which
she did and had an absolute ball.
And there were only 2 songs in which I wasn't moving.
Jersey Girl; which I am not familiar with and isn't much of a moving around
song anyway. Then after that there seemed to be some confusionon stage on what was going on (what to play or what guitars are being used if I recall correctly).
Then, they started into You Are. Never heard You Are live until then, but
the beginning music and then the amazing lighting corresponding with it was
just so hypnotic for me, I stood there like deer in headlights in
absolute amazement in what I was seeing and hearing.
After that bit of enlightenment, Whipping started and I was going crazy again.
SO, I'll take some heat for not "being into it" for 2 of the 30 songs, but that’s the reasoning.

    Yes.

Eddie ran off stage at the end of encore 1 when alive was still on the setlist..

Jeff stood there ready to play alive.

So no "arguing" just a misunderstanding.

I mentioned this earlier when I talked about them skipping songs. Look at the setlist pic.

I remember also thinking that the bootleg itself was easily the worst sounding boot of 2010.

While I see why this is said because it doesn't sound great, Boston is easily the worst sounding bootleg of 2010.

i won the lottery. ten clubbers around me did NOT rock out. it was really sad actually. i remember the ones that were the most excited were these girls who won and got dead center and got to interact with Ed. everyone else... could've used a shot of adrenaline (or maybe just a shot to loosen them up a bit! :P )

and those GIRLS! i'm pretty sure they asked for you are and we got that instead of no way. i was pissed about that.

i honestly dont remember the crowd. i really dont care or notice what other people are doing at a show to be completely honest. all i know is that i had a blast that night
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

I always tell people that this was one of the best shows I have seen them do. The place was barely 75% full. What a great night it was

I like the mix on most 2010 boots, but I agree Boston is rough too. Both MSG shows are nothing to brag about in terms of mixing either. Too bad all the 2010 boots weren't mixed like St. Louis 2010.

That show was GREAT!!! I was forced to buy tickets from TM because I had purchased FC tickets for MSG shows. I had to wait 2 hours and then got shut out. I rocked out all by myself in the back of the floor area. The crowd back there was a bit lame except for a few of us. This show gave me one of my favorite PJ show stories; a girl behind me was sitting down listening to the show, they finished singing GO, the girl behind me asks me "what is the name of that last song?" I said "GO". How many times do the boys say GO during that song, good grief. :fp: Still, a great show!!!

    I agree.

There's a post about remastering Boston and New York 1-2 somewhere. They deserve it.

Love one of the comments eddie says..

He asks to turn up the lights to see the crowd, and then says oh! Didn't mean to interrupt... It appears there are three people fucking in the upper deck...

That should say it all for the crowd.

The crowd was pretty bad, even worse when compared to New York 2 days later... But I was jamming out, the 5 guys in business suits in front of me were not...

Still a good show. Setlist made that show. Had they played all hits to a crowd that dead... Now that would have been scary.

I was at this show and have the bootleg. I prefer the bootleg to my actual experience. I lotteried for front row all the way on the side on the end in front of the speaker stacks. Each bass note felt like getting hit in the chest with a sandbag. The girl standing behind me said she was concerned about having a heart attack from the wicked bass vibration. I had earplugs so I was able to tolerate it but the boot works much better for me than where I had to stand. I was staring at speakers, not the band. The show was great. The crowd was not crazy like they were at MSG, but I didn't think they were "quiet". Very happy to have been at a show where Brother, Alone AND Footsteps all got played.

I WAS THERE AND I DANCED MY EFFIN ASS OFF! It was a freakingly fantastic show! Yes, there were those who were more quiet than others (a couple in front of me who actually sat on their laptops - yes, laptops, not ipads! - all night, but who knows? Maybe they had a paper due the next day)...

Alls I know is I had a freakingly fantabulous time!! Someone commented to me that they couldn't believe how awesome the show was, as it was their first, and and how all they were amazed how the FANS knew all the words to every single freaking song!!

Great show in NEWARK and I WISH I WISH I WISH they would play there again!!!!

I was at Kansas City, St. Louis, Newark, and the two MSG shows that year. I rate Newark 5th but can't really say why except that I agree that the crowd was not into it. And Ed worked hard to get them motivated. I think he even said a couple of things about it.

I wasn't implying that the whole show is dictated by the crowd. Obviously we all go for the band. But if I show up and 98% of the crowd is sitting and not singing/making noise, the show is probably not going to make my top list regardless of what gets played.

Its a perfect mix of crowd and setlist that makes a good PJ show. I think the mix wasn't good on this night, but I'll agree it was a good setlist.
No one was sitting down..not that I saw. You're making claims..you weren't even inside the arena.

I was sitting down. kind of. i was in the tippity top top, leaning back on the folded-up seat.

    This was my view: 28588_1253904997629_2239047_n.jpg

This is why I was kinda sitting down: 537boot2.jpg

I almost fell to my death trying to climb the steps in that thing. Especially after spending 9 thousand years getting there in that weather... first the subway then the path train... it was horrible i tells ya!!!! oh who am i kidding i was hopped up on pain meds and remember none of it except the almost falling part. that part i remember. where i was, way in the back, i remember it being calm and frankly I remember being relieved. I'm short. I was injured. I didn't wanna get stepped on.

it was definitely more crowded than 75% full. the only thing not sold were 2 or 3 tiny sections of the 200's up on each side. I would say it was 90 to 95% full. and don't forget, this show was announced around 6 weeks before the night of the show.

Being there doesn't matter, that's the point of bootlegs and youtube. Anyway...this pretty much sums it up from someone who was there.

at the risk of being "that guy"...I'd say this show is appropriately rated. They definitely busted out some of the less played songs but it was a pretty quite night.

Have you listened to the bootleg? I remember hearing it was pretty full but from the sounds of it I would've thought there were a couple hundred people there. Not to mention this show was in between a legendary show in Boston and 2 unreal nights at MSG.

Agreed! Me and my buddy drove down from Mass and my 10C tixs had me on the floor....place was dead! Eddie even acknowledged at one point that he didnt know about the crowd but the band wanted to keep playing. No energy in the building, but not a bad setlist.

Sounds like an appropriately rated show to me.

This show had an undeniably amazing setlist. But everything negative that's been said is true. And the people who worked there were assholes about lighting up. I could feel their presence all night but I sparked my joint during Immortality cause it was my first Immortality. Had to do it. They spotted me and I held my hit for the entire solo. I got high as shit. But they tore my ticket and gave me a warning. Fuck Newark.

Even though the crowd was less than desired, I'm proud I was in the building. Amazing show and setlist by the band, regardless of the crowd.

These 4 shows, Boston, Newark, and New York 1-2, were an amazing high point in the bands career, the energy of New York, (and Boston I'm sure, I wasn't there) was untouchable.

This is the reason I travel to see this band, because moments like these shouldn't be missed. I didn't see any shows after New York until Europe 2012, and even missing pj20, but being part of these run of shows made it feel ok.

Can't wait to plan fall shows. It's not always about the setlist, the crowd, the pre party... Sometimes it's just about what the members of the band, are doing together on stage, that makes the shows enjoyable. Newark is a prime example of this, as the crowd, which I was part of, wasnt as good as New York or Boston, but the band was on fire from the Hartford and Boston shows, and it showed.

I was SO glad to be at that show! The incredible set list made it all worthwhile...fuck those people who don't know any better than to lose themselves at a show like this, it didn't stop me from doing so! It was such an awesome warm up to the two MSG shows that followed, and Newark is where I stop to change trains on my daily commute to and from New York to New Jersey where I live, so that made it extra sweet! I can't even stop for one second to consider the negative things people have to say about Newark, the venue or the crowd. It was fucking wonderful, and if you weren't there, I bet you wish you had been. See you in London in July!
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!
