Jealousy

So my colleague who is also my good friend won the employee of the year award.
Now another colleague has started backstabbing and getting nasty saying she can't see how she won it.
She has also been telling others not to talk to my colleague and she keeps saying nasty things.
My colleague is the nicest person I have met and has always been friendly and respectful to others.
How can people be this mean?
I was hoping I'd win the award, now I am glad I didn't, it would have been me copping the mean backstabbing.
Anyone else have similar stories they wish to share?

period.
As far as stories or examples yes daily but I try to stay positive.
Focusing on jealous people is letting them take over your heart.
It's a terrible emotion, we must love ourselves before we can love others
and rejoice with them. I prefer to focus on those who try to live by this rule
because they make me stronger and life happier.
OP you are blessed to know this great lady who won the award.
I'm glad too it went to her and don't let the jealous people ever keep you
from achieving personal happiness and goals, it might be your award next time!
TA.. The next time the jealous person starts to tell you these
Things, give them a disgusted look.. Get Punk Rock with it.. Make
Sure they they know their behavior is appalling to you.. Tell them
that jealousy is an ugly cover for insecurity and walk away.
Don't get it?
She hasn't backstabbed to me.
I and her get along fine, will just say I don't want to get involved.
Some time with this, take a blow up pool into work fill it with jelly and get them to strip down and sort it out...
It's a shame it had to come to this. But there is no other way out of this.

lol
More than one friendship at once.. I can tell you.. 99%of the time...
If that person is talking shit to you about someone else.. They are doing the
Same thing about you to someone else.. Tends to be the common norm in the
workplace. I try not to have workplace friends..

I fear she is, especially considering she knows I am closest to my colleague being backstabbed.
Another colleague stuck up for my colleague and the backstabber got all bitchy to him.
My workplace is actually okay, people generally get along fine so it is hard to not be friends with coworkers.
This is just an isolated incident.
Anyhow I am trying to get out of the corporate office environment where behaviour like this is rife.
