Seen these guys mentioned several times on the boards.
Just wondering where to start was this band, maybe a few songs or an album, that will help ease my way in?

for albums... you're living all over me and bug were their best from the 80s, green mind and where you been from the 90's, and farm is the best since the reunion. j's albums more light, free so free, and several shades of why, are also great.

for songs... start choppin, sameday, thumb, little fury things, freak scene, mick, mind glow, raisans, not enough, get me... there's tons.

Start with "Where You Been", it's a great record. Don't forget J Mascis has some pretty good solo stuff too.

I never made the connection, but I can hear what you are hearing.

I love Kurt. He's an awesome musician. Back to Dino though, if you get the chance to see them... please, wear earplugs. I think my ears are still ringing from last December. They turn that shit up loud.

    Huge J fan

I think Where Ya Been is the easiest ablum to get into. I could be biased though I got it when it came out and it was my introduction to the band.

That said You're Living All Over Me is probably my fav.

I started getting into them about 3 years ago. They are one of those bands that it can be hard to get into at first. You'll have to dive deep into a bunch of their music to start liking them and then you'll eventually love everything they do. I started with "You're Living All Over Me". That got me hooked to go on to "Bug" and so on and so forth. Hope you enjoy them! :)

i got their last two albums & j mascis several shades of why, his latest solo album... all on vinyl and cd i liked em so much. have yet to see em live but would like to sometime soon. im a huge neil young fan so that has kinda led me to like them and bands like built to spill who are influenced by neil young. for me, everything starts with neil and pink floyd and kinda filters down as far as my musical taste goes. check out dinosaur jr album called farm and the song called "said the people" amazing, absolutely amazing!

Dinosaur Jr. is releasing a book. It's not cheap, but looks pretty cool.

"This brand new, specially created limited edition book presents a unique oral history of the first thirty years of the band, as told by J, Lou, Murph and their closest friends and allies. Illustrated with rare, previously unseen and classic photographs, including early, rare band flyers and memorabilia, the book traces the history of Dinosaur Jr. in candid and revealing detail, from High School through to the present day.

The book is only available here – you will not see it on Amazon or at Barnes & Noble."

You should listen to the album 'You're Living All Over Me'. It's their best, IMO.
