  • i am curious.

what does everyone think we should do about it?

do we take the bait and go in there and get this guy? he can just as easily be sumarilly executed as soon as we strike. or do we keep a level head and see how it plays out?

to me, one guy is not worth setting off a conflict that will involve the entire region.

send in jesse jackson. he will get that guy out of there.

as a korean american working in a touchy area , he had to know the potential risks.

Also he was taken in Nov. right around the time of that missle test and not long before the nuke test. He now has become a negotiating tool for them as the past has shown.

I don't know about you guys, but when I consider a family friendly vacation, making s'mores next to a camp fire, backpacking across sublime mountain passes I can't help but think North Korea would just be the optimal choice! Lol

I hope you all enjoyed you ride on our missile shaped tour bus today, now here is a complementary pic axe that will come in handy for the rest of your stay"

Well DID he plot to overthrow the N. Korean government? As far as I can tell, we have no idea. It's not impossible. If he did I would assume there is little recourse and I would argue that if the US caught a N. Korean in the States plotting to overthrow the government he'd never see the light of day again. This is only a really bad deal if the guy is an innocent tour guide being wrongfully accused.... which is entirely possible, of course. It's just not the only possibility.
And seriously, when are people going to learn to just stay the fuck away from North Korea altogether? It's not hard to avoid it.

Sounds about right. On the one hand, that is terrible and fucked up that that is the reaction from the N. Korean government over a stolen propaganda poster. Not even a tiny bit surprising, but fucked up. On the other hand, who the fuck is stupid enough to try and steal a N. Korean government propaganda poster while in N. Korea??? The results are actually pretty predictable IMO.

My mum and brother went to North Korea in September and it was grand. It's quite simple really, stick with a tour group and don't break the law.
