Like Mohammad.....the truth

Always wondered about this lyric. Is it "hits" or "it's"? I've seen and feel like I've heard it both ways. Liner notes and this site say "hits". I've read various interpretations and am not convinced on any. Does anybody know the real intended meaning? What are your interpretations? Just curious. This is one of my favorite pj songs but this lyric has me puzzled.

Btw... Tried to search for any previous discussion but came up with nothing that helped with my puzzlement.

    I think it refers to Mohammed Ali... "hits the truth"

    My first PJ show (Toronto 96) Ed changed the lyric to "like Tie Domi....hits the truth" (Maple leafs enforcer)

    Truth hits home. Sometimes learning the truth can be a hit or shock to the system

    I like the truth hits home interpretation. Thx. I do like that we can all have our own personal interpretations of lyrics but at the same time I can't help but wonder at the writer's intended meaning. This is true for many lines, not just this one. Sometimes they tell us and sometimes we are left to wonder a bit.

    I agree - Pearl Jam's music has so much depth its crazy.

    As I get older the song meaning change... 20 plus years and its like hearing them for the first time again...
