thoughts?

IMO, you cannot reap the benefits of the sponsorship and then turn around and sue someone for triple damages when you find out they cheated and it does little to no actual damage to your brand. Number one, you have already received the benefits, Number two, does ANYONE hold the postal service responsible or tie the cheating to the USPS in ANY way? Number three, if you are giving millions of dollars in sponsorship money to an organization/team, do you not have a responsibility to make sure that the money is being used appropriately and that your standards are being kept up? I would think if the USPS was serious about being anti doping on their cycling team they would have done internal testing frequently and put a clause in the contract.

Could Nike sue Tiger if he tested positive? Could Nike sue Jordan if we found out today that he cheated? If one makes a calculated investment to reap the benefits of sponsorship, what recourse do you have in this situation if the sponsorship benefits have already exceeded your initial investment and any "cost" of the violations? Interesting case

What about fans who bought merchandised endorsed by such individuals ... could they not then sue? If so? it would probably never end. I say buyer beware ... move on. We've all been duped at some point by these athletes.

The USPS was well aware of the suspicions that surrounded Lance, as well as all of cycling, when they were his sponsor.

And they benefited from him during the time they sponsored him during those suspicious times.

    Screw em.

This is like me suing Vince McMahon when he admitted wrestl'n was mere entertainment. (still not true!)

ok ... anyone who's read the lance armstrong threads knows I loathe this guy and think he is one of the biggest assholes in the world ... having said that - this suit does not jibe ...

    a) no one is associating the USPS with the fraud that Lance committed - until the point where the USPS becomes complicit ...

    b) they benefited from the sponsorship ... just because Lance exploited that sponsorship has no bearing on USPS

I do think tho that lance armstrong should be in jail but this lawsuit doesn't make sense to me
