Got my labels back from the printer! Gonna put them together this weekend. I will have jewel cases that are all printed up and possibly a second set of labels if anyone has any interest in the labels or the jewel cases, hit me up. I can post pictures when I am done it all...

Are those sticker labels for the actual discs? If so, you'll regret doing that a few years from now. Have many, many discs with sticker labels on them from many years ago that are now worthless due to the glue from the stickers destroying the discs over time. Just a word of caution from experience.

I think starting last year Nugs was offering higher quality downloads of the 2005 tour at http://www.nugs.net/Pearl_Jam.htm.

They offer FLAC and ALAC downloads for the entire 2005 tour. Likely not 24 bit HD but they should be at least 16 bit CD quality like the silver boots and not the 192kb quality offered in 2005. Last year I downloaded the Hamilton 05 boot from Nugs and there was a noticeable difference in sound compared to the original mp3.

Yah it makes me feel bad for the guy who went maticiously through all the 2005 mp3 boots, and removed the audible tick (silence) between all the tracks. FLACs don't have that problem (and are superior in quality), so it kind of rendered his hard work moot :(

It would be awesome if PJ made the '05 boots available for purchase in the store (cd's) like they did for 2000.

He might (hopefully) have used those printable CDs...You put them right into the printer.

No. It's for the cases/Sleeves. My CDs are printed on. I'm going to start the project this weekend. Pretty much exactly like DMW did. He graciously supplied the files and I took them to the printer to get done professionally.

Did they quote you a price? Just out of curiosity in case I decide to go this route.

They charged me 70 for two sets. 60 for one. If I got through the whole set without any errors, I would split it with someone. I'm kinda meticulous about them though so if one didn't look right, like perfect to me, I'd redo it. But I could give the sleeve and adhered label as well.

I'd be interested in splitting that with you if they turn out well. I'm really meticulous about that stuff too.
  • Sorry butt in, but you were charged $60 for one set of all 2005 sticker labels to put on the chipboard sleeves???

Yes. To have them professionally printed and cut. It may have been a few dollars less...57 and change. I didn't think it was a terrible price to,get them professionally done. I was quoted in that neighborhood by a guy on Facebook and a member here as well. I think the guy on face book was $1.75 per label plus shipping and I forget the other one but it was also in that ball park. You think it was too much?

If they're being cut for you, no, that's not necessarily too much. But like anything else, it's up to you if it's worth it. Hell, I'd pay someone to cut for me too, but only if I knew they'd be as anal about cutting as I am. :smirk: This is where most of the time to make these things comes into play, and cutting labels for an entire tour can take a considerable amount. (Get a good paper cutter, don't use scissors!)

However, I do believe this can be done for a lot less if you choose to do other tours yourself. For example, the glossy sticker labels I use are roughly $32 for 100 pages. These are the best quality labels I've found so far and my local print shop uses the same. For the labels pictured in this thread you could very likely get 2 labels per page, and the average cost between 2 of my local print shops is $0.65/page for color (laser) printing, so... 32 shows, 2 show labels on a page = 16 pages, and at $0.32 for each sticker label page and $0.65/page for printing, that's pretty damn cheap, IMO.

Also, 3 of the 32 shows are 3 discs, and since there still aren't 3-disc chipboard sleeves on the consumer market that means add another page to print those (3) labels too (all 3 should fit on one page - see pic).

My last bit of advice is this - buy glossy discs to print on, like Plexdisc "Liquid Defencse Plus" (brand). I'm now using these for all CD-R's/DVD-R's/BD-R's. They're the best thing going for printable discs since Taiyo Yuden stopped making them, and don't get fooled by them selling their CD-R brand to CMCPro. In my 3 spindle experience since CMCPro took over for YT this brand is complete crap. I've never had more coasters in my life, and the print quality diminished too.

Also, you'll see from the image I decided to make my own labels rather than use the ones provided because I really like the Klausen art on this tour and didn't want to leave any of it off so I made them "full sized". This also meant that all the 3-disc sets needed to have artwork modified/merged for the back tracks. Also, these were made before I found the current glossy labels I'm using today, so these don't look as good as they could.

I'm happy to answer questions for those who want to make them, but please don't ask me to make a set for you because I just don't have the time, sorry.

These are professionally printed and semi glossy. Can get wet and won't run. No inkjet printing. The discs have been printed since I first created. For the third disc, I am doing exactly what Ten Club and Nugs are doing, just inserting into a white sleeve and storing inside the others sleeve. I like it better that way...no need to have the extra sleeve IMO. I'll post up some pictures once it's done. Hoping to start it today but got a lot of other stuff on the plate right now...lol.

    Thanks for the info.

Inkjet printing on any glossy or semi-glossy sticker labels is an absolute shit show, which is why I have mine done at a print shop. I've given mine the water test too, no runs. Looking forward to your pics.
