Jesus. I have heard this song before, but not until this evening has it meant so much to me and had such an impression on me. I know its a Pete cover, but to hear these lyrics from Ed....

When Roger Daltrey toured doing "Tommy" a couple of years ago he ended with that song on uke.

just listen to the who by numbers. the entire album is great! slip kid (covered by i forget who, but played to the very opening of sons of anarchy season 2's 1st episode when they are testing out the automatics), success story, brg, squeeze box (which ed also covered solo back in 94 for daltrey's 50th bday (also sheraton gibson and naked eye)
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

Fantastic cover. Anytime EV/PJ covers The Who, I'm all smiles!

Champaign is the best sounding version that I've heard (until he fucks up the lyrics towards the end (btw isn't that whole Champaign show amazing??)). I was at San Diego 03, sounded awesome live

Thank you for agreeing that the Champaign show was one of the most underrated shows of the past ten years. This show and the Grand Rapids show in 2006 blew me away. I thought the energy of the 2003 Champaign show was better than any Chicago show from 2003-2009 (and I've been to all of them). Great version of Blue, Red and Grey!
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

i agree..no question about it.. is the best Illini show of the last decade.

even what Eddie says between songs is awesome..

I was lucky to see Ed play it at a very small show, and I had no idea what the song was at the time.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

Been to most in Chi town since 98 and I totally agree. They were on point that night with an amazing setlist for both the superfan and 20 year old student alike. I love how that kid during the opening of Blue Red Grey yells "Yellow Ledbetter" and Eddie tells him they aren't going to play that "now". It was totally on the written setlist. Moron
