going to nijmegen. due to unforseen and unhappy financial circumstance.....thinking i may miss out on nijmegen. :( :( :(


i just don't know what to do. i DO have a ticket already, non-10c before anyone starts salivating over my loss. :p but yea, it's a good week between dusseldorf and nijmegen, that i was hoping to explore amsterdam and the hague...and sure, stay with friends...but i do still have to feeed myself....get about....pay to get into seeing things....drink!.....etc. dunno.

also been having issues arranging my flight home from amsterdam. dunno if it'll be easier leaving earlier...but certainly a thought/possibility. ugh.

anyone want to talk me into going...do please share thoughts.......:D i am still very much undecided what is the wisest course of action.

    cheap flights back to England from Brussels..either Ryanair or BMI..or from Dusseldorf-Weeze with Ryanair too.

    It's in a nice Park.. and we'll all be there the night before ready for a party :)
    and you can find cheap hostels in Amsterdam..booze not that cheap, but there's other options there ;).

    come on! you know you want to...it's only money!

    Yep, it's only money, and not all that much. You'll regret it I'm sure if you don't go by "doing the right thing." Your tax situation must have been a huge shock as that is a large increase, but canceling a trip for something you know is a once in a lifetime thing seems "overkill" at least at first glance. Give it a few days and mull it over, then make a calm decision. I know I only regret the things I didn't do, never the things I did. How did I do? :D

    jeez kid i dunno....i fall on both sides of this equally....i can totally see save the money cuz it would help out now.....or.....fuck it IT'S PEARL JAM.....i think whatever decision will be correct.....the downsides are equal here.....:o

    Cut down all discretionary spending between now and the tour down to zero. ZERO. EVERYTHING, out the bloody door. Drink water instead of grog. If you wanna see a band, make sure there's no door charge, and walk to the pub. And not buy a drink when you're there. If there's any place you need to go to that's within walking distance, walk there. Don't buy anything that's not absolutely essential. Cut down your internet plan. Cut your water use. Cut your electricity use. Cut your phone bill. If you can, cut down your rent and find another cheaper place to live.

    That's how I'm managing to afford this tour. Been doing this since January. I have to- I've got the long haul flight from Australia to pay for, on top of all the expenses that the local touring fans will have. Another couple of months to go.

    If you want something hard enough, you'll find a way. Yes, it does get bloody boring, but hey, it all comes down to how much you want this.

    Hee come on what is this all about! You cant back out now. The dutch are the nicest on the planet and Nijmegen will be FANTASTIC!!! You will regret this....
    Save some money now and do not spend to much later. You can drive with us home after Nijmegen for free and will get a complimentary breakfast...how can you say NO to that??
    Buy your booze at the supermarkets in Amsterdam, that is a lot cheaper than the pubs probably. And there is a really nice free park in A'dam where you can sit and picknick.

    There are enough options...and when it comes to money I dont have much at the moment either, but that is not keeping me away from our lovely PJ!!

    p.s. They better play with all the energy they have got and rock our heads off...hehe :D

    Just do it....

    Eat bread and drink water while you're travelling, friends will feed you (I will, I promise!)...Bat your eyelashes at strangers in pubs and get drinks bought for you..... there's a way.....

    I myself have taken 4 extra shifts every week for like 4 months and only have 3 weeks vacation, this is the time of your life to do something like this. It´s not gonna happen when you have 4 kids and no money=) Then you can chill out a week i greece or whatever.

    Dreamn-I know a GA ticket at a gig of that size seems like a bummer, but you'll still be there. The continent won't be as much of a drain on your purse as London. Just go. Even if you're penniless it'll still be a laugh. ;)

    Just GO! There are MANY of us here who are feeling the negative financial repurcussions of Pearl Jam announcing a tour. Who needs money, when you can have good times, good music and good friends? WHO I ASK YOU!?

    If I can't force you to go to Copenhagen, there is no way I am letting you attend one LESS gig than you were previously.

    just to be clear...yea, i was not cancelling my trip entirely, i am not that crazy. ;) i was/am still 100% planning on london and dusseldorf. all of 'this' in regards to nijmegen is merely a current thought.....due to life circumstances, etc. i DO have a husband and a mortgage at home, etc...so yea...not just my own considerations. no, he hasn't pressured me in the least to change my plans either....he would never do that....this has all been in my own head, just thinking aloud...etc.

    this week i will try again to arrange my flights....and if i can get that straightened away...fuck it.....nijmegen will stay in the line-up! i just hope i still have neil's sofa to surf, anyone even see that scotsman around? i haven't seen/spoken to him in ages! anyway, yea, i was simply thinking of avoiding the extra 'expense' of a week in amsterdam/the hague...and all that.....even though i WANT a week there...it's just 'real life' infringing a bit. whateva....i'll figure it out.

    i am REALLY trying to go, just say fuck it and do it! however, i can't seem to get any fuckin' flights home!!! :mad: it's really pissing me off. what good are airmiles if you can't use em when you want/need to? it's ridiculous. they must limit how many 'airmile' flights are available, and where to, etc...or at least with my mom's airmiles anyway. grrrrrrrrrr. gotta keep trying, otherwise i don't know what i'll do!

    I'm going to London, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen and Nijmegen, and i only have £250 spending money, which comes to about 360 euros. I'm not gonna let that drag me down though, nothing will stop me going!

    I may have to sell a kidney or something though so that i can eat and drink while i'm away!

    what an ordeal, but finally this time, smooth sailing! no direct flights, grrrr....but nothing too bad although coming home 2 changes and a couple hours stopover in both cities, but yea...got my flights on the dates i want/need and will get me home!

    so hello redrock.....i will be flying from NY on the 14th 5:30pm....couple hours in toronto....then onwards to london, arrive 8:35 am on the 15th, and yea...in heathrow! so sure if you want to meet me/give me a ride...i am all for it. :p

    i'll be coming home on the 30th, leave amsterdam at 7:20am....fly to london, 2 hours inbetween.....then fly to montreal, 4 hours there.....then finally home to NY by 3:10pm that afternoon.

    i am just so, so, soooooo happy have it all *set*....yay!

    london was never in jeopardy, only nijmegen. nijmegen still not the wisest decision, but fuck it........:p i just hope i can find a place to sleep every night inbetween dusseldorf and nijmegen, or obi may have a houseguest a lot longer than he may want. :eek: hahahaha.

    Maria, we have 2 nights in Nijmegen (27th and 28th)...I'll check with Tanya but you're counted on both of those afaik.

BUT with a bit of luck I will have a bigger place soon.... in this system we've got I'm ending high on the lists lately.. I'm picky about the roof above my head, but something great will present itself soon, hopefully!

    Yea Helen and i are flying in to NYC for a couple of nights on the 28th July before we roadtrip/travel to chicago for lolla. so we will definitely have to meet up!

    You are right! As far as I'm concerned, I might even give my notice in work shortly to be free and spend June travelling! And if I'm broke, I'm sure I'll find a way!
