A Time That Was Once You

The heavy steps of thunder
Pass with every memory I have of you
Every night I dream
And every night I see a ghostly shadow
Of a time that was once you.

Speaking loudly so that you will hear
All that I have to say
And the thunder of a smile now past
Has gone its own way.

now the lightening has struck the temple
And the thunder has shaken your stained glass eyes
And now all of the world can see inside
A place you tried so hard to hide.

The touch of a gentle wind
Moves softly through her hair
She spreads her arms as if to fly beyond the moon and stars
Looking into the sun through stained glass eyes
And she can’t help but to feel the lightening
And listen to the thunder one more time.

and every night I see a ghostly shadow
of a time that was once you.

So close your eyes and say good-by
To a time so long ago
And listen as the thunder and lightning fad away
Into the place you tried so hard to hide.
