Hi, I'm Australian and will be travelling to the states in September this year and am looking for ideas on what the best things to look at/visit/site see around the LA & Las Vegas areas. And also I'm wondering the average temp is for that time of year (as you can probably tell I'm totally clueless). Thanks heaps guys!

It's kind of hard to give recommendations without knowing what you like. If I were going to Vegas, I'd probably hit up that Beatles/Cirque du Soleil show, Caesar's Palace is really cool, one time when I was there they had Paul McCartney's actual violin bass on display inside. To be honest, you'll never run out of stuff to see in Vegas. Even though it's mostly just casinos, they're all very cool and have cool stuff inside rather than just slot machines.

As far as L.A. goes, it's been a while. When I was there I mainly just went looking at all the stuff I'd seen in movies and T.V. And of course you have to go check out the walk of fame and all that. I mainly just did all the cliche stuff there, so I can't really provide much in the way of insider info.

ha! im an aussie travelling around the states right now! and as satan said.. its difficult to recommend when we dont know what youre into. however when i am travelling i tend to earmark 2 or 3 must dos and then spend the rest of my time wandering and seeing what i come across.
    hear my name
    take a good look

vegas in september is awesome. temps should be in the 80s (fahrenheit). la should be about the same but vegas being a desert the air is very dry and sun can be blazing. love vegas in sept-october (april-may is also fabulous weather for vegas).

and if we are lucky PJ will be in Vegas/La area in sept-october...come on fall tour

Yosemite and Sequoia national parks are not far from LA. Do not pass up seeing the Yosemite Valley and the giant sequoia trees.
