    My first PJ show!
    4/11/94

For you " youngins" this was PJ's spring leg of their second album "vs".
All the Vitalolgy songs played (corduroy / first immortality ever!)
    Were unknown and NEW.
In fact after corduroy , Ed says "that'll be in the next record with your permission!"

The band was hitting major cities by playing two nights in a major arena
(4/10 & 4/12 in the orginal old Boston Garden)
And the third night would be a 10c only show in a small theater (this weekend it was the famous Boston Orpheum thearter that would be officially released with the Vs Vitalolgy re-issue.

But few people know they did the same two show big / one show small 10c in Chicago and New York as well.
And right after the 4/13/94 Orpheum show, PJ flew to NYC to be on SNL (played rearviewmirror , daughter and Not for you )

But my night 4-11-94 feature "release" performed in total darkness
Candles lit all over the amps..
    Other highlights:
Last performance of "breath" for another four years
(9/11/98 would be the next time played)
A rare "hold on" / improv (not either if the lost dog versions)
    But a totally different song.
Immortality premiere with different lyrics than the studio version or even
    The Orpheum version.
STONE is the dominant head banging guitarist this tour (check out close ups of him during first part of rearviewmirror !
And the famous stage smash at the end if RITFW
(Prior to this Jeff stole some black CELTICS sneakers from the locker room and finally convinced Ed to put them on during the mid point of RITFW)
Ed tells the crowd after putting them on "I've never worn white sneakers in my whole fucking life!"
    "This here's a REQUEST!"

I was in college at Framingham State at this time. My college roommate Ed, college buddy Jason and I went down to the Garden for this show and we sere hoping beyond hope to buy tix from scalpers. Unfortunately we didn't have the case to buy. Years later my buddy Uncle Josh and I went to a CD bootleg store (before the internet wiped them out) and bout the VHS tape of this, complete with the stage smash and I always thought they were Bird's sneakers. I believe there was a story in the Globe where the Bruins wanted to practice in the afternoon, but part of the deal to get PJ into the Garden was allowing them to shoot hoops on the parquet floor and the Bruins couldn't practice. I believe there's a story on this in 5 Against 1. I really wished we scaled the cat walk in the old Garden and saw these shows. Memories.

'Hold on' improv is so amazing. Can't describe the feeling it gives me.

My first show was the night before, 4/10/1994. Amazing, one of my favorite memories of both the band and the Boston Garden.

some of my previous posts re this show which was my first

This should help put that 94 show in perspective. I was 19 and i drove solo from ny to boston and had to drive back to ny next day cause i couldnt miss a college class or id fail. Now im 38 and im trolling the forums still, im going to philly labor day wknd, and im going to montana. Btw i just recently returned from the last 6 euro shows. That night changed my life and ill never forget it. The energy in the building and the energy and amazing sound of the band is something i never came close to experiencing before that evening. I was 15th row and when they did "even flow" i was simply thinking to myself this is what rock n roll is. This is it. They were flying around the stage but a perfect noise was coming across. Insanity. That time besides kurt passing which was obviously horrible and beyond impactful below were some things that were also going on.
-pj just played atlanta on the radio, obvi epic
-pj was about to play a killer set on snl
-AIC jar of flies accompanied me for the ride to and from boston
-versus was an amazing album that people were going crazy about and in ADDiTION to that songs were starting to leak from vitalogy
-betterman was just played for first time (by pj) in atlanta
-immortality was played for first time at garden show
Pearl jam was by far the biggest thing going and they deserved it.
He was ok but wondering about wandering

    more re april 11th

Show eddie wore robert parish high tops and he carved out hole in stage and exited through the stage.
First time immortality performed live i believe.
Show was on heels of kurts death.
Famous orpheum show was next night but this wasnt too shabby.
Feel like they did almost everything from first two records. Also did breath and solat back to back!
I know its sounds corny but during even flowvwhat i was seeing and hearing was indescribable and still is. I had been to a decent number of live shows before this but the energy and sound i was witnessing remains my definition of what true rock n roll is. I was 15th row. They were all moving all over the stage but meanwhile you were hearing complete perfection.
