Dude, seriously! I was just looking at that listing, and another one with the '04, '08, and '12 holiday singles and The Fixer, one of the most common 7"s... current bid $107!!

I would honestly price each of those singles at $10 - $15 each, being fair.

People are crazy! But hey, if that's the goin' rate, maybe I should be selling some extras on the 'bay right now.

Does anyone else ever drive up the price just to see what people are willing to pay?

One of these days I'm going to mistakenly have to shell out some serious cash for accidentally "winning" something, but I just like to see what people's maximum bids are (which, luckily for me so far, they then increase right away when I breach it).

I know it's kind of a dick move, but if you have that kind of money, I don't really feel all that bad about it.

It seems to go in waves, but prices are crazy high right now. I have a few holiday singles I need to finish up my collection, but at the going rate of some of these lately I may just take a break.

Watching that '91 single get to the rediculous price it sold for was insane!

Yea I know right, I mean I have a '10 single I'll sell someone for $40 including shipping but only as a gift

Seriously though while we are on the subject I could use some of the older singles at a price below $40 per Xmas single.

I don't think it's a dick move bc you are either buying it at the price you gamble on, or someone else is paying a premium. Although it may hurt your chances if you want to pick up the same item at a cheaper price later on.

Yeah. Curiosity killed the cat. And one day, my curiosity to see what people's max bids are will likely kill my credit card/bank account when I have to pay up for an item that I was sure that I would never be able to afford. Good news is, "Hey, I finally got that first edition of Gravity's Rainbow"; bad news is, "Honey, I think we need to sell the house."

Frankly, it's usually me trying to figure out if I'll ever be able to afford an item in real-time. If I'm serious about winning an auction, I put in my true max bid and then usually lose days/hours before the auction is completed. Sometimes I get lucky, though, and win something for my set price.

It's humbling in a way to see what some folks are willing to pay for some stuff. It re-enforces that the item of interest will never be mine.

Finally, I'm sure that the sellers don't think it's a dick move. And let's be honest, if they're parting with one of their cherished collectible items, they're the ones who need the money -- not the one who's set a max bid of moremoneythanmostofuslikelyhave.

I'm just glad that Lost Dogs exists since I'm more of a trader than a buyer. I sometimes have stuff that I can part with in exchange for other stuff, but when it comes to money, I don't really have much of that lying about the house.

I always bear in mind the old adage "a fool and his money are soon parted" whenever I open my wallet. If it's for a good cause, sure (and many folks here can vouch for that). If it's to put some kind of shiny bauble in my hands -- well, there are much more important things in this life.

eBay prices are insane, even prices here now are higher than four years ago on eBay when I started buying there... but this listing is beyond all sanity, to me, except for Love reign o'er me, those songs aren't that good, I got quite disappointed with the 04 and I don't even have 05, it's crazy how much people ask for them, and how much people are willing to pay for them, if you make a search there are lots of 2012 singles along with the magz, both wrapped in nylon, so that accounts for my theory that there are way too many members who are only here to get stuff and flip it later...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

I was thinking the same same thing...or one of his buddies who jacked up the price won the auction and it gets relisted.

Yea... And their buddy will get stuck paying the eBay fees. Hey, as long as people are happy that's really all that matters.
