This is the story of my animal rescue.., I feel the need to tell this tale,
For Tommy The Cat is passing. And he is the last surviving rescue.

In 1997, I was living with my druggie mother try to help her rehab from
that nasty drug we know as Meth. She owned a half Shephard half Chow
Bitch named Rebel. Behind us lived an Ecologist who had seven
Ronanian Timber Wolves. Rebel and one if the male wolves ended up
"Hooking up" and what resulted were my two wolf dogs. I raised them
By hand to the background babble of my tweaker mother, who claimed
By ownership of their late mother, that they were hers. Four months
into their lives, I realized there was no helping my mother, and since she
had this horrible habit of leaving the boys ( the only
Survivors of the litter) in a run down kennel, with often no food or water;
I packed them up in the middle of the night and took em'
with me when I left.... Rescue one.
I moved East from California to Joplin Mo. in 1998. Aèshmä Dä
Dähein ( Momo for short) moved with me, while Acèkturaël ( Ace)
Stayed with my dad as he was attatched to my dad's German
Shephard Pfifer. All was well, Til 2000, when my dad begged I come
Get wolf dog number two. Pfifer, had passed on and Ace had begun
To become aggressive. My older sister and I drove out to get him.

We bounced from ranch to ranch until I landed in Quapaw Ok.
Where my boss allowed me to construct a 17 acre run for the boys.
While sleeping one windy fall evening we heard a howl, them a scratch
At our back door. We awoke to find that Momo had brought
Home a baby groundhog, and was watching over it. He would not
Let his brother eat it. This sort of thing went on the entire two
Years I worked for that Farm. Even when I moved back into
Joplin, he brought home critters that Ace was not allowed to eat.
Cats, dogs, rabbits.. Momo brought them home. I began working
With the local shelters to find all these critters homes.
Soon neighbors showed up with unwanted pets, and Momo
let them come, always correcting his brother.

Then we moved to Kansas City... Our mother once again fucked up
Her life, and my older sister and I were forced to drive back out to
Cali to move her out with us. We all went in on this huge house with
A cattery in the basement and 12 kennels in the backyard. Soon it had
Started all over again!!! Momo brought home critters, Ace wanted to eat
Them, but now there wads city and major laws to
Contend with. We filed under my habitation license for Ace and Momo
To start a rescue through the ASPCA. We wee approved, and needed a name.
In Joplin, my fifty crazy critters driving down the road had been nicknamed
The Canine Mafia.. I turned that to the K9Mafia
Animal Family Rescue.

In 05' it was a windy, cold night in Sept. there were thes god awfull howls coming
From our backyard. I knew something was wrong. So I put Ace in his crate, and
grabbed Momo. The SECOND I opened the back door, he shot out into
The night and the dragged out from under our porch, two bloody kittens.
One was fully skinned from the neck down, the other had been half
skinned! I immediately called the 24 hour emergency number for
Animal Control. They picked them up. I couldn't sleep all night.
The next morning I went to the shelter to inquire of them.
Tommy's sister ( the fully skinned kitten) had passed in the middle
Of the night. Now I say kittens, but they were roughly three years old.
Tommy, amazingly had survived. I went everyday before work
And visited him. Four months, six skin grafts, and 12,000 dollars
Later, I took him home. He had Herpes, had survived
distemper, and being nearly skinned alive; yet he was the
sweetest cat ever!!! He would purr very loudly the second
You turned your attention his way.

The vets told me he would die young due to all his
Physical trauma, and neglect for his first 3-4 years.
I loved him to death.. He rode in the car, and even
Came along on road trips back down to Joplin, which
is how he ended up in a bar down there. He was just
The neatest cat I've ever had. And now as his life's
Window closes, I felt it only right to share his story.,
I will miss you Tommy The Cat!! You made a cat person
Out of this hardcore dog/horse person.
Thanks for letting me share that..

Well Tommy the Cat was lucky to have found you, or been found by you. Amazing that Momo was a protector or all those little critters too.

    I loved him to death..
As it should be, and as you did.

Bless you for the good work you do and have done.

I'm so sorry about Tommy...I don't think the sense of loss ever goes away, but knowing you made his life happy, comfortable, and full of love is a balm on the grief.

Thank you for sharing this. Good thoughts to you.

(I'm going to be working when it starts, can any one here start the hosting ? My twit pals don't know Tommy very well. I can take over when I'm off work?:( , I didn't have any say in the time. And it's global so It will go on all day..)

I can speak for the wlf community. I had over 29 messages that expressed concern to fight for him or donate anything or foster him. We feel terrible because we ran out of time. To us Tommy is a reminder to why we hoomans do everything we can to help. WE are celebrating his life and handsome kitty-ness.
