I believe the first step to making my wish of seeing PJ in the round started with the "An Evening with Pearl Jam" concept.

Let's make it happen and call this next tour "An Evening in the Round with Pearl Jam."

This would allow more people to see the group in arenas and make every seat in the building an awesome seat.

So no opening act
The stage is right in the middle of the arena
3+ hours of Pearl Jam

Who's with me?

Let's Do It!!!!!

Pour some sugar on me

We saw Prince like this some years back here in Atl. It was awesome a one man show.

I would like this with PJ but I would like it unplugged with Jeff and his upright bass 8-)
  • I've always thought the guys should hit up the Theater at Westbury. (Long Island) It's a small intimate theater in the round with a revolving stage so everyone can get a good seat. It's nice and very intimate. Nice for an unplugged gig.

The downside is that it's extremely small so they would need to play there 20 times to satisfy the fanbase.

Plenty of bands have done the round in arenas. Metallica and Def Leppard come to mind (thus my Def Leppard reference).

It doesn't have to be acoustic. The only drawback I could see is that Stone will need to move more :)

I agree! An "In the Round" show/tour would be great. I think you are correct in that this set up would open up more "good" seats. This would give us a different perspective of seeing the band live. It would also be something fresh & new for the band to do.

I saw the Beastie Boys a long time ago "in the round" and it was great.

I also saw the Foo Fighters on the EPSG tour. They had a runway from the center of the stage that connected to a small round stage at the opposite end of the floor. They played most of the set from the main stage with Dave occasionally going up & down the runway. 3/4 of the way through the set, the whole band went down to the small round stage and played a 5-6 song acoustic set. Then the band left Dave there by himself & he started Everlong accousticly . Halfway through the song, he ran back to the main stage and they seamlessly finished the song electrically with the full band. It was a very cool set up.

So, yes, I think PJ in the round would be very cool!!!

  • I was thinking about this while waiting for the shows to start this past weekend. Even in a basketball arena that kind of setup could work pretty well. Just seems like it would be cool because even the nose bleed seats at the end of the arena would be decent in that case.
