Pearl Jam are a true living legend. Their roots go back to the Seattle rock scene in the mid 80s. Together with Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam became the main representatives of the grunge movement in Seattle.

Unlike other grunge bands, Pearl Jam resembles the less heavy style of classic and punk rock of the 70s, i.e. The Who and Neil Young.

Their commercial success was explosive, even more than Nirvana’s, who had turned grunge into the mainstream of the 90s. Pearl Jam have sold over 60 million albums worldwide, 30 million of which in the US only. Pearl Jam, icon and symbol of a whole generation, are not only the most successful alternative rock band, they are also the most popular and long-lived band in the last twenty years. Even today, their sound is an influence for many bands who consider them a reference point, since their shows are sold out in all the tour dates.

FIVEHORIZONS is the first retrospective exhibition on Pearl Jam ever made in Europe, featuring the history and evolution of the band from their genesis until today. Pearl Jam have a huge and faithful fanbase in Italy, where they are warmly appreciated by many people. The exhibition is intended not only as a form of historical / visual testimony to the band, but also as a tribute to Pearl Jam and all the fans who follow them loyally and would be delighted to see the band's pictures on display in our country.

The exhibition will feature a series of 60 images, in both color and black and white, taken by renowned photographers who have narrated the band’s private moments as well as their unforgettable live performances from the beginning of the band's career to date. From pictures of the early 90s to the very recent portraits, we trace the metamorphosis of those who helped create the aesthetics of grunge and beyond.

Very cool! I will go thru some of my pics!
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

ROME - The first retrospective photo exhibition dedicated to Pearl Jam - authorized by them and promoted for more - and is by no coincidence that the world premiere of the cult band from Seattle has chosen Rome and Italy. FiveHorizons is the title of the exhibition, in fact celebrates the relationship of "elective affinities" alloy training time veteran of the scene grunge and alternative rock with the beautiful country at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, where it opens on June 13 and then remain within reach of fans and curious until July 30.
Pearl Jam as you have never seen

This is the first international exhibition that tells the history and evolution of the group through a series of 70 photographs taken by great photographers who have followed and told Pearl Jam since its inception. The band - survived the twilight of grunge and now lived by fans as the representation of the innocence of pure and hard rock, beyond fashions and trends that surrounded him - was born on the ashes of Green River and Mother Love Bone in Seattle, while Vedder before the call was a fatal gas station in San Diego. The legendary first album, Ten, dates back to 1991. They have sold over sixty million copies and became the protagonists of a thousand battles in the sign of the "politically correct", with mixed results but always shared by millions of fans, loyal accomplices, rockers (like them) in the bone and soul, far by wisps of each "coolness" artistic actual or presumed.

FiveHorizons provides an overview of the first shots that date back to the dawn of the nineties (the ones signed by Lance Mercer and Charles Peterson, in particular) until the very recent portraits of Steve Gullick and Danny Clinch. With them, participating Matt Anker, Fernando Apodaca, Chris Cuffaro, Mike Leach, Karen Loria, Robert MacKenzie, Spike Mafford, Steven J. Messina, Paul Natkin. Not only that: Brad Klausen and Ben Brown, illustrators of many posters of concerts by Pearl Jam, will carry two official posters for the exhibition in a limited edition.

FiveHorizons will be online on the official website of Pearl Jam, visited daily by an average of more than seven thousand people. Visitors come from all over the world, with excellence for the Americans, Brazilians, Mexicans, Canadians, Argentines, the Portuguese and the Dutch, for a total of about 141,000 visits per month. But beware: in Italy there is a fan club for years particularly warm, lively and above all documented (pearljamonline.it). The event will be promoted on the official website of the band and the official social network, Facebook and Twitter all about.

The event also provides images for the awarding of the Fivehorizons' Contest open to all fans of PJ, invited to send photographs of their most beloved group during live performances and backstage. The winning photo will be on display in the exhibition. It will also be made an online gallery with the finalists' photos, making them visible to all users fivehorizons-exhibition.com.

It does not end here. The Circle of Artists, one of the local hot live scene Roman, on the eve of the event will organize a theme party about Pearl Jam, from the selection of photos in an exclusive preview at the awards ceremony of the winning photo of FH Contest to a DJ set with a ladder of course focused on the PJ and the planet-grunge alternative reference.

Pearl Jam love Italy and Italy loves Pearl Jam. Mutual affection is supported by a variety of public and private events, a DVD (Picture in frame, eloquent title documents the Italian tour of five concerts of 2006, with lots of amenities and backstage assorted), in fact often a wedding. It was the one worn by singer Eddie Vedder in June 1994 with his longtime girlfriend, Beth Liebling, surrounded by no less than himself in the rock world: it was the bassist on a hovercraft under the pseudonym Sadie 7. The wedding took place in the Capitol. Six years later, however, after a long crisis and rupture, there came the inevitable divorce. For the record, the vocalist was then married to Jill McCormick, a model of international fame (who gave him a daughter, Olivia) known in Milan.

Meanwhile, while PJ do not leak on the recordings of the new album, the successor of Backspacer four years ago, "accomplices" can comfort themselves with the new album by a holder of Stone Gossard, attended also the drummer and "fellow team "Matt Cameron. It's called Moonlander and will be released on June 25. The album comes twelve years after Bayleaf, the first solo of the 46 year-old guitarist from Seattle. It was published on 11 September 2001. A date decidedly unfortunate.
