What turntable do you spin your vinyl on?

I've only started about a year ago. I have a Marantz 2216, a Sony PS -LX3 with a M44-7 shure cartridge. I need better speakers though (currently have Vivid). Suggestions? Don't want to break the bank"Feel the path of everyday....which road you taking?"

Audio Technica AT-LP1240 w/ Shure cartridge. Best sounding turntable I've ever owned.0

I have a Sony PS-LX300 turntable, with a TCC TC-750 preamp hooked up to a Sony STR-DH720 receiver, and Polk TSi100 speakers. In my ignorance I think the turntable is the weakest link (obviously), and I've been doing research to upgrade. I have to work on a budget, so it seems the Audio-Technica AT-LP120 is a solid choice, but not sure if I should save up another couple hundred and go with a Rega, Pro-Ject, or Orbit Plus. Appreciate any feedback if anyone has some!0

Rega rp1 as well, with luxman power amp, tec pre amp, Wharfdale speakers.0

Which Wharfedale's do you have? I have a pair of Diamond 8.1's that are great and have incredible detail in the midrange and upper registers. I'm looking at a pair of old, W-60's now but haven't pulled the trigger yet.Barrybb13 said:Rega rp1 as well, with luxman power amp, tec pre amp, Wharfdale speakers.

I'm still very happy with my Pro-Ject Carbon Debut with an Ortofon Red cartridge. It's totally manual and for the most part I like that except the only slight drawback is having to lift off the platter and move the band to change speed."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Do you find any stereo imaging issues by using a center channel speaker in your listening /billiard room? It seems like vinyl would always sound better without a center speaker. I would love to hear about your experience with that setup.mrussel1 said:Listening/Billiard Room:

I don't use the center for music. I have a TV up there too so it's where we watch movies when we want to blast them. I don't like using the center for music, like in 7.1/5.1. It messes with the imaging to me. With excellent imaging, you can feel the music pull to center in a 2 channel setup.dudeman said:

Now there are a few listening settings I use that are 4 channel. It's supposed to be 5 but I kill the center so I only hear it from the front and some presence sounds behind me.
So yes, you are right. Vinyl, HI Res, FLAC etc all sound more natural in true 2 channel (I also kill the sub two as my fronts are 'Large').

Thanks for the explanation. I have tried to enjoy music listening on my home theater system but it just doesn't sound right. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0

Yeah, it's artificially loud, which can fool people

Anyone ever check out a Dual 1229? I have a line on one for cheap but it probably needs a thorough cleaning and lube.
I have a 1019 that sounds like a million bucks.
Thoughts? If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
