i watched something,and after the toast in a dinner,people reply

"Hear, hear" or was "here,here"..?

whats the meaning about it?

whats this reply to a toast means?
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."

    It is meant to imply that you agree with what the person giving the toast said. Sort of "I heard that!" but an old school version.

    In the UK it's something you hear a lot in Parliament. The other politicians will say it if they agree with what the politician currently speaking is saying.

    Oh and it is 'hear, hear' not 'here, here'
