Car Stereo Question

I have an old MB Quart 12" pwd304 DVC 4ohm subwoofer

Its a very musical sub from what i've been told.

I want to know the optimal way to wire it to amp. High Sound Quality not High SPL

I don't have an amp yet.

Should I get a 2 channel amp and hook each voice coil to a channel?

Or maybe wire in series creating an 8ohm load and get a super beefy amp.

I heard that bridging amps introduces distortion and so does running loads less than 4ohm.

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

If you only need an amp ro power the sub, i would.look.for an amp that is rated.close to the speaker rating for ohms and watts (rms watts)

I'm no expert, but did stay at a holiday inn last night

You really need to check out the car clubs and car stereo forums. I got the best help there.

I decided to buy a rockford t600-2 amplifier. It's a two channel amp. I will just hook up each voice coil to a separate channel. The installer at the stereo shop said that would be fine.

It will take a while to scrounge up the money for that amp though.

Right now I'm waiting for an old Clarion amp to get delivered to me. It's for the front speakers. It is NIB but from 2003. Hoping it works out.

I have always wanted a decent stereo system in my car. I spent alot of money on my wife's car, but then we got divorced. I barely even got to enjoy it.

    Any other car audio enthusiasts?

yeah, one of the channels on the amp was completely re-built. I may or may not have been listening to my music a little loud.
