I'm not sure Pearl Jam and PJ member side projects put out enough studio recorded work these days to warrant a vault club. I suppose if live recording were included but I don't know if that would draw enough subscribers to make a vault club feasible.

As for vinyl- YES! I wish like crazy that the entire PJ catalog were available on vinyl- I mean other that the $150 to $300 copies available on eBay and a few other sources. The fact that I can't find affordable copies of No Code, Riot Act, Binaural, Lost Dogs, and Pearl Jam (I have most of the others) on vinyl drives me to distraction sometimes!

As for the liquid filled vinyl or record within a record- those seem interesting to me as art projects but personally- good old good quality vinyl records would spin just fine for me.

Yes, long live vinyl and long live analog!

most of the stuff from jack white/white stripes/raconteurs etc. have been archival live releases or demos. pj could definitely do this.

Yes, especially demos ... but not 45s. Compilation LPs would be much preferred by me. Or EPs.

Here is what I have been wondering about 10c and the vinyl thing.

New album in the works so why can't 10c take pre orders from exisisting members as of whatever date. They press a vinyl for those members it could be blue, red whatever but that vinyl would only be made for those who pre ordered it months in advance. It would be the same track listing but a special pressing only available to 10c members.

I don't know the cost and everything but with a new album on the horizon it could be done.

that's a great idea, however, I like my wax as I like my coffee, black...

When I pre ordered Helplessness Blues from Sub Pop, something went wrong, and I got the confirmation for a Chad Vangaalen vinyl, and I gave them a heads up, they said I was right, and they sent me both, more over, since I supposedly was one of the first 300 people who "preordered" the Chad Vangaalen album, I was sent the limited edition green vinyl, only 300 made, and what is more crazy, I love that album...

They could do a black vinyl. Except with 10c orders throw in a demo song on each side. I dunno but it seems like something could be dones instead of the well if your around to see the website then you get something special process.

Love him or hate him, we need more people like Jack White. This guy seriously has his hand in so many things and just loves to make music and get it out there. There's a ton of articles where he goes into detail on TMR and how they come up with ideas, etc. The guy is also a brilliant marketer and businessman because putting out those limited edition, collector's items type was is a great way to get people to buy into his company. I know without the Vault or any of those crazy ideas I've heard about, like dropping the vinyl via balloons, I don't think I ever wouldv'e got turned onto his stuff. But it creates publicity, and now tons and tons more people are familiar with his music and what he does which is beneficial to everyone.

Plus the reissues are another great idea. I could care less for most of the bands on his label and who he has reissued, but talk about a mad scientist...this guy is the real deal.

Although I do have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of those super limited Triple Deckers, etc. are given mostly if not all to TMR employees as an added perk of employment. Not like it bothers me though, just an observation.

Honestly, my first reaction to that was " no! Don't fuck with third man records!" ... I think I'll stand by that reaction. Third man doesn't need 10c - it's awesome just the way it is. Pearl Jam wants toouch control over its releases now (which is great!), so third man doesn't need them getting their hands in there doing their own thing. I think monkeywrench is working for PJ, and they don't need third man any more than thirdman needs them. IMHO.
I agree. I just wish 10C and Monkeywrench would release more vinyl to 10C members only than just the Christmas single. Have us pay a little more and give us some really cool stuff on vinyl. For example 'Unplugged'

I'm with you too, with the caveat that PJ/Monkeywrench raise their standard of sound quality to the same level as JW/Third Man. I've got a pretty good collection of ThirdMan stuff and it consistently blows away all my PJ vinyl.

Agreed! I don't know what's up with that, but hope that PJ/monkeywrench pulls it together in that regard.

Please no. No joining forces with Thirdman Records.

Would love 10club + Monkey Wrench Records to push forward & focus on putting out lots of PJ studio / live show's on vinyl. And also break out the vault and release some live show's on DVD / Blu-ray.

Take a break on massive clothing line releases. Get back to releasing physical PJ audio/video products for the analog fans.

Just read on Wikipedia (so it must be true) that MonkeyWrench is owned by Pearl Jam and distribution is by Target (for the US).

I wonder if that means we will see Target only releases like I've seen from other artist. And the last time I checked, my local Target doesn't have a vinyl section.

I do like the other idea of taking pre-orders for a 10C only vinyl edition of the new album. They could even have an option to pick your own color (for those who prefer their vinyl in black).

If they did what Third man does and only make as many as are ordered, then people wouldn't ever know which one is the most limited of the limited editions. LOL.

So they could sell a red, white, blue, and black one. And let each member pick one color.

I wonder now that Target are opening soon here in Canada that we will also get some of those "exclusive USA only" PJ goodies. It's tough getting MonkeyWrench goodies up here (like RSD '11). Hopefully this will push their supplies up here.

RSD releases are designed for mom and pop record stores and not a big chain like Target. Plus, as I mentioned, Target doesn't sell vinyl. For those that have never been to a Target, it's a giant store like WallMart. Every once in a while an artist will have a Target only version that might have an extra track or two on it that you can't buy anywhere else.

If I'm not mistaken, the day Backspacer was released @ Target, there was a Pearl Jam display selling the vinyl record of the album, the 7" Fixer single, CD, Backspacer Rock Band disc & the t-shirts.

That is possible of course, however, hard to measure the probability. Mind you, the triple decker record was sold on RSD 2011 only at the TMR Store and on The Rolling Record Store only, which was park outside the store, they were sold at 50 USD., I don't recall the exact number but no more than a thousand, and there were half on the store and half on the RRS. The liquid vinyl was sold in the same fashion on RSD 2012, the price was 100 USD and there were only 600 copies made. If you want to know, you can browse the TMR site, you will find the videos and the info in the news section, it is still available.
