I am not sure if any of you have been following what has been happening in Fukushima after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power plants had been disabled.

Hiroshi Hoshi and his son Reo Hoshi, the natives of Fukushima, have been going into the Exclusion zone to feed animals left behind and rescue pets sometimes at the request of the evacuees. Their entry permit was taken away, and the Hoshi Family had been going in with the fake permit. They had informed the police about the fake permit long time ago, and nothing had happened until this late January.

The police came in and took them away. The father and the son admitted for the charge, and the police still prosecuted them, which is very rare for this kind of crime. They confiscated their business equipment and keep them in a jail (rescuing not their business) in order to cut their income.

The thousands of animals have perished due to the mishandling of the matter by the Japanese government, many lives of people have been lost. Hoshi Family has been doing the job that the Japanese government has failed. The Japanese media has been in silence re: this except one that reported the outrageously incorrect allegation. That is because the government has been controlling the media since the Fukushima incident. The Japanese journalism, except for a few, is like a North Korean propaganda machine.

Meanwhile, hundreds of pets are dying from the hunger and the cold, and the Japanese government just want everyone to close his/her eyes as if nothing is happening. The government continues to kill the farm animals that escaped the barns or the owners had let go giving them more chance to survive. This did not have to happen only if the government handled the situation immediately as advised by many experts at that time

Please sign this petition to free Hiroshi Hoshi and Reo Hoshi, letting the government know that the world has not closed their eyes and has been watching Japan.

Not to be pessimistic - I hope the petition's goal comes to fruition - but...WILL it?

I mean, if Japan doesn't give a shit about those animals and those trying to help them, why would they give a shit about a bunch of signatures?

You had me until the word "petition".

Online petitions are a waste of time.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

I think it's the nuclear contaminated death-do-not-enter and stay the hell away zone.

Exclusion just rolls off the tongue a little better.
  • I know the Japanese government has been ignoring the petitions, esp. online one. But there is nothing else we can do. Can you please try instead of saying it is the waste of time? Their lawyer has been working hard.

I will ask the organizer to hand deliver the printed copy to the police department where they are being held. What the Japanese officials do not like is the fact that their little dirty secrets have not been secrets at all. And that maybe one of the reasons that they wanted to stop Hoshi Family as they may know too much.

    Thank you, brianlux for trying!

No worries! It's weird- the site just keeps reloading over and over before I can sign up or type in anything. Any idea what that's about? :|
