Need Jack White suggestions..

So I never really gave much attention to anything Jack White did, and I really don't have a good reason as to why. A few weeks ago I got his solo album and really really enjoy it. I am just wondering where to go next, since I know he has a few different projects. I never really listened to any White Stripes stuff, so is that a good place to start?

Any album recommendations that you think I would enjoy after liking Blunderbuss would be greatly appreciated!

  • You can't really go wrong with any Stripes albums. I prefer Consoler's of the Lonely from the Raconteurs (perhaps by fave JW album altogether), and Horehound from The Dead Weather.

I would start with the first White Stripes album and go through their entire discography.

I'll make this easy...if Jack White is in the band, it's great and you won't be disappointed

I'd say either Raconteurs album is closest to the material on his solo album, Consolers of the Lonely being the better of the two.

You might want to check out The White Stripes DVD, "Under Great White Northern Lights". They did a fine job of putting this tour documentary together. Because of the intensity of the performances, a couple of the numbers they play here just shook me the first time I saw them. Great stuff!

    white stripes:
All of them are Great. My fave is De stijl
    Get all of them .

    Raconteurs:

Both are Great But I like Broken By soldiers more.

    Dead weather:

Enjoy both, but "Horehound" is better.

Really can't go wrong with Jack. I'd say listen to some samples of albums on itunes or amazon and go from there to pick which albums you like personally. All of them are great though.

This is a tasty thread. Blunderbuss was brilliant.

The guy is a machine, he never sleeps. Good Luck catching up with him.
I love the Raconteurs. His first guitar he made from a mop handle , three nails, and a glass bottle?

I'm so glad he went solo, He is very gifted. I wish he would tour, but he's always busy with his new studio.

I suggest you listen to more! :D

  • Everything he is in is gold. I think The White stripes might be my least favorite of all of his projects...which is saying a lot since I am a big time WS fan. He does not have a bad album out there. :ugeek:

As much as I've been listening to his music, I haven't actually owned any of it until now. Downloaded some White Stripe from itunes and it's even better than I rembered. Will def get Blunderbus too.

I was a casual white stripes fan (if they were on the radio I didn't change the station) and then I got the first DVD - Under Blackpool lights, blew me away and made me a huge fan. Jack White live is simply amazing, great place to start.

It might be fun to start at the beginning with the White Stripes and go from there... That's what I did, I enjoyed hearing how much and how fast he evolved.

I mean this young kid from Detroit puts together a 2 peice band and starts playing raw blues-based garage band stuff with such conviction that he explodes into super stardom, then puts together several side projects, starts his own record label, stars in a movie with Jimmy Page and the Edge, appears and performs in a Rolling Stones concert film and gets nominated for a Grammy with his first solo album.... I mean COME ON!!

This guy is some kind of mad-scientist crazy genius.

I love it all, especially Racanteurs' Consolers of the Lonely. But I'd start off with White Stripes' Elephant, and just acquire it all...

I'm gonna say what everyone else has pretty much said and you can't really go wrong with any of them.

I will say however my least fav Jack White project album is Get Behind Me Satan.

a fun thing to do is make a play list with Jack White and Jack Black.

To this day it still confuses people I know. I'll never understand why.
