Not sure what to take from (the first sentence) "Pearl Jam HOPE to have their next album out "this year for sure"". What does that even mean? Certainly not very concrete.

I wouldnt put too much stock into that comment. Mike himself said that he has no idea what songs are going to be on it...7 demos are done... they will work on 15 + more(who knows what they will be like) and Ed will bring stuff as well.
The conclusion: Things can and probably will change drastically from the 7 demos they have on the palette right now.
