That all ended in 1987 with the release of "Permanent Vacation".

Seems like a fitting title now, permanent vacation from making cool music.

  • I remember. So great for parties. Playing loud was the only way. A good live show as well.

I loved these guys. Toys in the Attic was an awesome album. Rocks was fantastic as well.

I didn't mind Permanent Vacation. Pump is went it all went to shit in my mind.

I disagree. Their last great album was Get a Grip in '93. That was a really great album.

And for the record, Pump came out after Permanent Vacation and that is an awesome album too.

Nine Lives is pretty good too.

Some of it can seem overproduced, and I don't think the absolute highs are as good as their 70s run, I think they're every bit as consistent til the Armageddon song came out.

Correct. This is why acknowledged Permanent Vacation as a decent album... and then cited Pump as their tumbling point. Why was this misunderstood?

  • And... 'Get a Grip' is a far far cry from their earlier works. Not even close.

I don't ever remember that? I DO remember a friend of mine winning a box set off the radio. She claimed the prize thinking she could sell it for money. She couldn't.

She ended up fostering a guinea pig for me, and we turned the box into a little bed for him. That was cool! 8-)

From '73 to '77 they released 5 great albums in 5 years. Then it went to shit for 10 years until '87 when Permanent Vacation came out. I thought Pump was a fantastic album and I really enjoyed Get A Grip too. I got to see them on the GAG tour at Donington and that was a great show (even if it was a bit weird seeing them headline after Biohazard, Pantera and Sepultura had been on!)

Aerosmith is no longer relevant now that Steven Tyler has appeared on American Idol. That being said, Permanent Vacation was their last great album.

Didn't they release an album last fall, I haven't heard a thing about the album or from the album. Say was that album of any worth?
