My first Mudhoney show was in the fall of 1992 at Roseland Ballroom. Mudhoney was the headliner. The top support band was the Flaming Lips, who used a flame thrower on stage. I was close enough to feel the heat on my face.
I gave my friend Chris a ride to/from the show that night. He then owned a record store called Secret Sounds here in CT. (If you check the cover for the Nirvana live album From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, you'll see that Dave Grohl is wearing a Secret Sounds tshirt in one of the photos.) After the show, Chris asked me if I wanted to go to a party. I said sure. So we went to some area where there was a postshow party going on. It was a pretty big area if memory serves. Anyway, I got to meet Mark Arm and Matt Lukin, who were both very nice. Arm signed my Piece of Cake CD booklet. Lukin "signed" it by putting it in his mouth and biting it!
