(we) i have permission to open this thread but the rules are we gotta be good to one another so it remains open this time & that is that.

the dude sucks. the dude is a coward & a freak show. i do not believe he even understands the word honor like he believe he does. he is all talk & a completely dangerous nasty bastage. we are better off as a society with him out of it.

any latest updates? what are you people out in LA hearing.

i am sorry families & friends are suffering/moarning right now. that is hard stuff. also, the LAPD had better learn how to control its officers with their stupid ass fingers on their excitable triggers.

Good job, chadwick. It was an interesting thread and I hope this one remains lock-free.

Losing someone before their time is tough enough, as most of us know - hell, even losing someone AT their time.

I have zero inkling what it must be to lose someone at the hands of another, of one who apparently stalked his victim(s), thought it was OK to take lives in order to make a point.

Surprisingly - or not? - I haven't heard any follow-up about the officers who opened fire on the mother-daughter paper deliverers without provocation. Makes me wonder how often it's happened before; will it happen again?

Sad stuff all around, my friend.

How about the LAPD? What will happen to them and their problem with racism? Will it go back the way it was post Rodney King?

This is what I'm most interested in... The LAPD is considered one of the most fucked up police forces in America - I would really like to see something good come of this miserable story. Major changes in that police force and others (in the US and very very much so in Canada with the RCMP) are desperately needed!! It is a REAL shame that this lunatic went about this the way he did, because if he'd gone about it in a better way, it really could have brought attention to this major problem in N. America. Not that I'm surprised that this fuckpants screwed it up and probably wiped out any current possibility of that happening.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata

I agree with some of Chadwick's sentiments because of innocent people suffering and dying but I also agree with what you're saying here, Jeanwah- this department needs some house cleaning- big time.

I do feel for the victims' families, don't get me wrong. I'm just looking at what caused this dumb cop to lose his marbles.

Yeah, I would hope all facets of this mess are looked at- especially the issue of racism.

What is needed is an external assessment of the L.A.P.D. to verify or negate the charges Chris Dorner alleges to have occurred.
All we knew about his specific case is what he wrote in his farewell statement (it was not a 'Manifesto'). He provide case numbers, officers names, etc... Those things, specifically his case number, should be provided to our media outlets to publish.
We only heard Dorner's side of the story and his interpretation of the board hearing.
    ...
Also... I work for a giant company. I work with people whom express negative racial views.
That does NOT mean i work at a racist company. I work with people that are, otherwise, nice people... except for their distain for Mexicans or Blacks or Jews or the poor or the homeless or whatever... it does not mean my company also expresses and/or supports these opinions.

We are never going to know. All of those possibilities went up in smoke when Dorner took his own life.
None of us outside of Dorner's personal life know anything about him other than what has been made available on the Internet. And we all understand, the Internet is 99% bullshit.
    ...
What he should have done... surrendered and went on trial and aired out his grievences with the L.A.P.D. to the public (even against his attorney's advice).

The LAPD has many issues, racism just one. I too hope Dorner and his victims receive justice
by punishing those who put this all in motion. Dorner's friends and family as well suffering
and for years since he was wrongfully punished by a corrupt system.

latest ... his body positively identified at 3 pm today and
it's been announced that the department would re-examine its proceedings
against Dorner. The review is to reassure the public that their police department
is transparent and fair in all things they do. Alrighty then.
  • Obviously the accused was not a stable person. Something happened that pushed him over the edge. The LAPD has its fair share of corruption. What I don't understand is how people think that the LAPD could be anything but corrupt in a cesspool like LA county. NO THANK YOU. You couldn't pay me enough to police that area.

thank you. my exact thoughts. you could not pay me to live in LA or any large ass city. fuck the hell off. LA is indeed a fucking circus act hardcore. corruption for drugs & money is the least of the problems.

so a cop pulls someone over and takes their weed bags & cash... good. slaps the shit out of going to jail/prison. this happens 24x7 clear across the country. i like that actually. now racist bullshit is flat out terrible and should not happen.

That is it. The police is a reflection of what it polices.
And remember, you and I and 95% of the citizens are not who the police interact with. The only time I ever have any interaction with police is when they pull me over for a traffic violation.
Most of the time, they are patrolling the streets and have to deal with the people that you and I don't want to deal with. It is not an easy task.
    ...
Now, before anyone stomps on my neck, I am not saying the L.A.P.D. are perfect. I understand there are a lot of cops with cop attitudes out there... and a few that harbor racial indifference, in every big city police department in the country. That is not an indictment of the entire department. The L.A.P.D. did not go after O.J. Simpson because he was black... hell, I'm more Black than O.J. They went after him because he was a murderer.
I do think that Dorner's claims should be reviewed and opened to the public... whom they swear and oath to protect and to serve.

In the olden days... I got caught up by Mt. Wilson smoking pot with my friends. A Sheriff's Patrol car snuck up behind us with his light off and busted us in the act.
They pulled us out and scared us... but, in the end, made us dump our pot in the dirt and kick it around. They took our ceramic pipe and tossed it over the cliff and told to to get the hell out of there. They actually let me drive down the mountain and told me that if I didn't drive safely, they'd arrest me. We got all the way down the hill with them right on my ass and follwed us for about a mile, then turned and let us go.
From then on, we smoked pot in my griend's garage.

Dude. I've lived here my whole life. I'm a pretty peaceful person and living my life with one who's the same. And we have done well for ourselves without fucking over anyone in any way.

And I'll also say that every officer I've had occasion to come in contact with - and there have been many, in different situations - the majority were professional, kind, and helped when it was most needed.

I'm also irritated that Judge Judy has been pre-empted by a news conference about Mr. Dorner.

(if anyone catches it, please let me know if I'm way off on the top dude who's speaking looking like an older version of Mike McCready)

our children are driving by age 12 helping their parents on the farms. its a lot of gravel roads & back country roads & the kids are golden and the cops couldn't give two shits.

its only the differences in where we chose to live. i'd go completely out of my skull nuts living in L.A. i visited L.A. & was amazed beyond words...they weren't the best of words either.

I might go nutty but wouldn't talk shit about people who live in that environment, especially if they're just...being. Living best they can and not fucking with others in the process. I know it's not for you and I respect that. Just, I hope, you also get that many decent hardworking people live in these big cities. Contribute, work our asses off, donate, etc.

I guess I'm nearing the "enough" overload bar...tired of infighting all around, tired of one-up-ness, egoism, party-shit, the they-suck-but-we-don't mentality. Not directed toward you per se, but fuck me if this isn't a near-constant 'round these parts and 'round many parts.

Chadwick, Hedonist- peace brother, peace sister. No, seriously, I'm only jumping in here because I've lived equally in both extremes- city and country- and I have to say they both have their good points and there bad. If I had the money, I've have a place in the best of both. But now suburbia- oh yeah, I lived there too. Now that sucks!

It's an awful place to live when you're grown up but maybe not so bad when you're young. Growing up in suburbia motivated me hugely to go out and find something more. Kind of like with the guys in the Ramones... only it didn't work quite as well for me.

Yeah when they set the house on fire... burn slowly or die quickly ... tough choice.

They did not want to take this one alive. They also do not want to pay the million dollar reward either
siting he was not taken alive. :fp:

The ten officers here brought up this week on corruption charges had bad money problems.
One in debt for $880,000 on a cops salary.... say what
others filing bankruptcy. So these ten were on the take making choices, bad ones all around.

It's all about choices not who they are, where they police or who they police. Choices.
    People making choices.

But they have power, they abuse it, as Dorner saw and tried to fix. Some people are just mean,
they hate, they are cruel, they kick, beat, taser til dead. My God we have people shot in the back
unarmed. :wtf: Choices. Just cause someone is a cop should never mean they are above the law.

They should be cleaning up their own, cleaning house,
it shouldn't have to be an outside force coming and doing it for them.
It shouldn't be a brotherhood that stands up for bad choices, corrupting all who do,
someone should have stood next to Dorner when he told the truth.

I kinda figured that's what happened. Given the choice of shooting yourself dead or burning to death by fire, which would you choose?
