Brad/Stone Gossard
I went to see Brad yesterday in Antwerp.
First off, I always liked them, from the start but somehow never had a chance to see them.
Venue wasnt sold out and you had tons of space, we were like 2m from the stage, right side, Stone Side
(It surprised me so few people showed up actually :? )
Anyways, what struck me was that Stone can rock the fuck out man! All the PJ shows I have been to, he was always more of the subdued guy at the side of the stage. But man, he really had it going yesterday.
They played a Piano version of Crown of Thorns which was frickin' awesome and a suberb version of Jumpin Jack Flash from the Stones.
I always wonder how he makes a difference between Brad and PJ songs, is he like "Ok, now I'm gonna write a PJ song" or PJ doesnt like something he wrote and simply takes that to Brad?
To all European Jammers here, go and try and see Brad, none of the upcoming events are sold out, really worth it!

^You will not be let down!
He is also a very humble guy actually, it's not Stone ft Brad or anything, he really wants the attention going to the band, and not to "Stone from that other small band"

Went to see them in Manchester Club Academy, right in front of Stone all night, what a gig!
Roughly 200 in the venue, great night, how do you post photo's on your posts?0 -

I had the privilege to see BRAD in Birmingham and London, both shows were spectacular and it was so good to hear those songs at long last - it was pretty amazing how Shawn's voice still sounds exactly like the record, even though it's some twenty years later - was interesting how they seemed to play some of the songs slightly slower than on the record, which seemed to elevate those songs even more.
It was great to see Stone have the space to play a little more beyond perhaps what his 'role' in PJ allows - here he could really get into his groove-led licks and solos and his tone throughout the show was - for want of a better word - bitchin'! It had just the right balance of bite, sustain, presence, etc which weaves really well around the rest of the band.
Full kudos to the whole band - Regan and Keith are a true solid rhythm section!
Would love it if any official bootlegs of any of the shows were released, you never know!My Music, 'Crowd of Oaks' - Spotify | Bandcamp

May I ask something? Seeing the setlists of the tour I wonder why they open and close with buttercup, do they do half of the song at the beginning and finish it at the end or do they play it twice?
Thanks in advanceManchester 1&2 2012
Waiting for the next PJ euro Tour

They play the whole song both times, although the closing version has tended to have a stronger audience sing along than the opener because the crowd are totally pumped by then!
Not sure of the reasons behind playing it twice though - maybe a tribute to Neil Young's Tonight's The Night days?!
