Which do you like better and why, that is if you either.

Personally think both are hilarious but have to get my Daily Show fix every night. I think Colbert is great but can get a little boring since it is just him.

  • I find Colbert always seems like he's trying a bit too hard to play a character.

John Stewart... he really is like that.

I think they're both excellent although it seems like Colbert has the edge on getting great musical guests.

I agree with this. Colbert is sometimes over the top. Stewart has great subtle facial expressions, and his use of the silent stare into the camera is brilliant.

I love the Daily Show more of the two (and I do love them both).

Jon Stewart is an outstanding interviewer. His knowledge and understanding of a given guest's expertise is constantly impressive.

The episodes where he and Bill O'Reilly each appeared on one another's show are great examples. Anyone who can confound O'Reilly into a speechless stupor with mere logic ought to be given diplomatic immunity

I agree... I'm not a big fan of Colbert. Likewise, I am not a big fan of the "sketches" on the Daily Show with their correspondents. Just not my thing.

I do like the intro/monologue on the Daily Show, and Stewart's interviews a lot.

Love both... but fell in love with Colbert from day #1. He is so dry and i cant help but laugh my ass off.

    LOVE COLBERT!

(But in 2006 he let a door close on me and my infant son.... 5 months old in a stroller (like just didn't hold the door for us as we entered behind him...) as we all entered a rest stop on the NYS thruway... he was pre-occupied with his like 8 yr old kid and on his phone.... and not well known at all but i was CRAZY about him and it was REALLY disappointing!!!)

    Still love him though. 8-)

I used to like both of them (Jon more than Steven), but I've lost interest altogether... I just watch Bill Maher now.

Too close to call. I really like the writing on Colbert's show and it's impressive that they can pull off the satire day after day so well. His interviews are more comedy and it's interesting to see how well the guests can play along or not.

Stewart does well exposing the comedy in situations just be making connections between things. He also seems really informed and interested in his guests.

Agreed. Love both shows, but Stewart is what it is and Colbert is playing the character of some out of touch right wing cat. which is funny as shit, but given a choice i'll take Stewarts real self over the Colbert character, no matter how funny it is.
    Peace, Love.

  • Stephen Colbert says funny things.

    Jon Stewart IS funny.

I love them both, but I feel Stewart is just so pro at this point.

Couldn't agree more. The Daily Show has been consistently brilliant for over a decade where I find Colbert's character exhausting.

I don't watch either very often but when I do I usually end up watching both. Never really considered which I prefer. To me they almost seem like two half hours of the same one hour program.

  • Colbert, at his funniest is funnier than Stewart. His jokes can also miss the mark a lot more. Basically he's less consistent, and the character can get tiring, but then again, he pretty much has to carry the whole show by himself and doesn't have the correspondents to break things up. I went to see the Daily Show back in 2000 or 2001 one, before Colbert had "The Report." Jon was on vacation and Stephen anchored the whole show by himself and he was hilarious. I remember all of us thinking, this guy really does need his own show. I'm happy he got it. I'm not sure if people know this about him, but I've heard from a friend that knows him well that he's a devout Catholic.

why would anyone want to choose...for me they are both great in small doses, but Stewart is the far better interviewer. He is actually very good at it, it seems very natural.
