Of course he does. The only reason people go to church is to pray about sports.

It's less about God playing a role and more about religious culture in sports, but does touch on various issues.

And of course they had to put Ray in some sort of baptismal/praying pose on the front.

I predict I'll get stabbed by Ray Lewis before God intervenes in a sporting event.

I don't have and opinion of Lewis. But in my mind the image I always have of him is in the orange jumpsuit in Fulton County court. Is it fair probably not but that's what happens.

no of course not. if he or she did how could you explain the NY Giants winning 2 super bowls in the past 4 years and all the titles in all sports Boston has won over the years. Surely he or she would be punishing 'those' people

as for ray lewis it's sickening how they are trying to portray him these days.
  • Did God play a role in the outcome of the 10C lottery? He obviously has a beef with me then...

The only sports God has ever watched is "Superdogs! Superjocks!" and "American Gladiators".

  • I don't know about the outcomes but for sure god plays a roll in a big catch, or run in football and I know that god is all about the Grammy Awards.

 Actually, I'm surprised the number isn't way higher for yes. I thought people who believe in God thought he has a hand in EVERYTHING.

I like that one Bill's receiver who blamed God for letting him drop a TD pass.

I give him credit for making it a two-way street unlike 99.999% of other sports stars that give credit to him only when they win.

It would also require them to come to the conclusion that if they lose, God likes the other team more than their team. It's easier to say that God is too busy to mess with sports than to deal with the idea that God likes the Redskins more than the Cowboys.

Rumor is that God hates Cleveland.

Sporting outcomes may just be a secondary effect of His smoting.

No I don't think God has a role in the outcome of sports. I think those who thank God after games are just thankful they survived through games without permanent injury or death. I would love to see sports without any injuries but we know that's not ever possible. Injuries are just part of sports, it sometimes determine the outcome of games and events more so than anything spiritual like God.

As an agnostic, and as someone who knows (even likes!) many people who do believe in god, I'll say that maybe their belief gives them the strength to do what it takes, to endure and persevere, to go beyond their perceived limitations or weaknesses - whether in sports, everyday life, what have you. I don't think that's a bad thing - at least, nothing to scoff at.

(if people believed god itself could pre-determine the outcome of a game, then why even play to begin with?)

    My take on it, anyway.

(oh, and the Grammy/Oscar/celeb award thing - whole 'nother ballpark!)
