And the Commonwealth will not be without a Senator for long.

Don't know much about this guy and he will not be around for long. I am personally glad Governor Patrick did not appoint Barney Frank. I really do think he would have tried to run and his time is past.

I think Ed Markey will be a tougher out than Martha Coakley was, but it still might be Brown's race to lose.

    IF he runs that is.

    Well, he needs the money.
And he has shown he is well qualified and has natural talent for politics in his ability to quickly waste taxpayer money. His ability to lie, his hypocrisy, and his ego also make him a perfect fit for a Senator.

He is selling the house he bought from Drew Bledsoe back in 2004 and taking a bath on it. Hard to know how to feel about Schill because 2004 was so awesome but he is exactly what Jason P describes.

Pretty sure this guy getting the nomination would be a dream come true for the GOP.

  • Wow looks like Scott Brown is eyeing being governor instead - no senate for him.

    Wow is right.

"Breaking news: Scott Brown, who surprised the political world with his upset victory in the 2010 special election, announced that he will not enter the special election to replace John F. Kerry, according to reports."

I think that is the better move for him but I am still surprised. For governor he just might get my vote.

Oh, I hear you now. Not a bad choice at all. 435 congressmen, 100 senators, but only 50 governors. You gain executive branch experience if the presidency is a potential goal. Of the three I think governor would be my first choice too.

I believe one governor can help more people than a Senator or Representative, plus you get to keep that Washington stink off of you.

That is probably true. And the governor's home base is the state house, not Washington. Much easier to keep your finger on the pulse of your constituents when you live amongst them.

Bill Weld taking a pass as well. I think he was a long shot to ever enter the race though.

Interesting. Can the GOP find lightning in a bottle twice?

"Gomez's first words in the video are in Spanish, an attempt by the GOP to reach out to Latino voters.

"If you're happy with the way things are going in our government I'm not your kind of candidate," said Gomez, who runs a private equity firm. "Washington bickers and fights over everything. It's too partisan, it's too petty and too little gets done. People say it can't be changed. As a Navy Seal and a now as a businessman in Boston I've been doing things that people said couldn't be done."

Gomez' message of bipartisanship is similar to that of Brown, who lost his seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren. The Herald has reported that Gomez has given money to several Democrats, including Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2007.

Several strategists who worked for Brown and former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney are working for Gomez' campaign."
