I'd go at them in order. I go back and forth between Highly Refined Pirates and Planet of Ice as my favorites, and Menos El Oso is great too. Omni and Infinity Overhead are not in the same class as the other three.
  • Ice album moving forward. See them live. They are amazing.

Though it wasn't the WHOLE band...
If you have Palladia channel on your cable system,
Minus the Bear were just on "Live From Daryl's House" last weekend!!
You should be able to catch a rerun in the next few weeks.
"Highly Refined Pirates" & "Planet of Ice" are my favorite albums...check out their "Acoustics" album too!!
Definitely see them live...you won't be sorry!!!

Acoustics is by far my favorite. To echo the others here, Planet of Ice and Highly Refined Pirates are also very good.

  • Highly refined Pirates is awesome, but (it may be just me) it took me several listens before it sank in.

Also, I have seen them live and they kick ass.. I dont know of a full live DVD, but they did appear for one song on Burn to shine compilation (with Eddie Vedder too).. and the drummer is so fun to watch... see it here:

    Great band.

Others have already stated my opinion mostly. The easiest to get into quick is Planet of Ice

So I've listened to Acoustics two times now - was hoping it would be a little more chill, but it's starting to grow on me. It usually takes most albums a couple of spins before I can get into it. I'm going to check out Highly Refined Pirates on the way home from work today.

hmmm highly refined pirates has some chill moments but not their calling card.

I thought some of their later albums mellowed some. That is why i did not like them as much.

Both Acoustics and Pirates are definetely growing on me. "We Are Not a Football Team" is probably my current favorite - either version. Maybe I'll check out their newest album next, if it's more chill.

It's Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates...
He brings different artists / bands to his home studio and they play a few songs together!!
They are "Minus" a few of the "Bears" for this episode, but it's still a pretty darn good.:lol:

I was able to watch Live from Daryl's House the other night - pretty cool stuff. I'm pretty excited about seeing them live in about two months.

I also checked out OMNI. Probably my least favorite out of the albums that I've listened to so far, but there are a few really solid tracks on it. My favorite album is still Planet of Ice, closely followed by Acoustics

Kind of on the short side...but still a GREAT SHOW!!!!
I think that may be because they are co-headlining now with Circa Survive.
The setlist was pretty darn good:
    1.Steel and Blood
    2.The Fix
    3.Secret Country
    4.My Time
5.Absinthe Party At the Fly Honey Warehouse
    6.Knights
    7.Diamond Lightning
    8.Toska
9.I'm Totally Not Down With Rob's Alien
    10.Listing
    11.Double Vision Quest
    12.Pachuca Sunrise
    13.Drilling

EVERYONE needs to see Dave Knudson play guitar at least once in their life...I've NEVER seen a guy have SOOO much fun playing guitar, He's just AMAZING!!!
