BOOMTOWN DC!

DC is booming! Tons of money here now and 7 counties surrounding the area are the richest counties in the USA. Good for business here and business here is making money! Money on division, crisis, partisan politics, lobbying and petitioning!

So why would you (taxpayer) want all the money from around the USA to go to DC? Centralized power accruing and building up to the point that its almost too big not to fail! Why would anyone think that its an economical and fiscal way for us to create more wealth and prosperity? How could one think that the money is protected and spent wisely? How could anyone think that the govt. creates jobs with other peoples money?

No budget put out in years! No fiscal sanity!

Federal employees in DC 250,000 and they make an avg. of 120,000 per year. You think that is money well spent? Problem goes further....govt. contractors and contracts! Behind the scenes to pay off friends of their side! DC also has an under-class and has its poor! Big inequality here in a liberal district. Tons of money coming in and still same inequalities! Only people inside the circle get it!

HOW COULD YOU AGREE WITH BIG GOVT? It only helps the political class and continues to divide us

We take in 2.2 trillion and spend 3.9 trillion.....we need to balance it within 10 years and have an ammendment to keep it that way!
Theres no time like the present

You are aware that none of this is new information
That this was going on during the Cheney/Rove Govt, as well as GW Bush, Ronald Regan, and so on
That it did NOT start with Obama
And don't forget that when Cheney and Rove took over the budget was balanced and there was NO deficit

Well Obama ran on CHANGE and TRANSPARENCY and I have not seen one arrest from the economic fallout! I have not seen Transparency at all when it comes to this administration. I have not seen change in DC at all! I have seen more of what is wrong and less of what is right! Thats the point! AND the debt is like this for the first time! 1.4 trillion per year! WOW

  • 400 billion per year annual deficit....easily manageable!

Nowhere in the OP did it point the finger at any entity other than the Federal Gov't. Most of us are aware it is not just Obama.

The entire Federal Government needs an overhaul.

I'll watch fox news occasionally to see what manipulation tactics the host is using and what agenda and message their pushing. Then when I hear someone repeat that message a week or two later, I know more about their t.v. viewing habits. Oh yeah, I also watch to get fair a balanced news!

I was kinda surprised to see Hannity give equal swipes at both sides in congress for the first 55 minutes of the show, but then in the last 5 min he regressed to his old self and blamed Obama and the dems for lobbyist influence and deficit spending. Suddenly the world was back to normal.

this is SO nothing new. it actually started back in th early '80s...ppl need to look at Ronald Reagan if they're seeking to blame it on any president (which is rather simplistic imo)

i grew up in a middle class neighborhood inside the beltway. not one person i grew up with or know from hs can afford in live in our old neighborhood now, as was the case by the time most of us were finishing school and/or moving out on our own in the mid-80's. the cost of housing made/makes it impossible to live in a one-family house or apt anywhere within 30 miles of the city. okay the tiny place the ex & i (+ 2 babies) bought was only 26 miles out...but still

the disparity between the weathly & poor in DC has always been glaringly evident, ever since i can remember as a small child in the 60's...it very likey preceeded that time as well.

when i moved to the left coast 24 years ago, DC was conservative. it's only become slightly more liberal because of those that have moved in that have attempted to change the DC status quo. not saying they've succeded, that good ol boy hierarchy is hard set and difficult to break...it's not gonna happen overnight

"Does it really matter" who did what and when it was done? Point being Government needs to have a pay cut and they need to be held accountable!

it certainly seems to matter to those that want to blame it all on Obama.

just like telephone assistance for the poor that right wingnuts refer to as 'obamaphones.' when the program was started under reagan only it pertained to landlines....you don't hear anyone calling them 'reaganphones'

yes government needs a paycut....do you see enough politicians (regardless of party affiliation) that are willing to accept one? no...didn't think so.

How many of these government workers that are being demonized could make exponentially more than their government salary in the private sector? May have chosen to forgo that additional income in favor of public service. Many of these people are too easily scapegoated.

Haha, was just about to post -- it's been great for my property value! The price floor that the Federal Gov't indirectly provides (in particular if you own along one of the metros that provide access to it -- hello orange and red lines) is quite a thing. I don't personally work for the gov't but I know people that do. JimmyV, to your point, there are plenty of both. It just seems like the scales tips more toward the people you AREN'T talking about.

No doubt, there are some who are overpaid. I just wonder how widespread it is.

    i wish i was a d.c. fat cat republican

"#i'd sell my mom's soul for an extra few million. i'd start a business here, hire 4,000 workers, go bankrupt & sell it to china & hire 15,002 chinese workers & haul cash loads of green backs into the banks around the globe whilst rubbing whatnot & having bunk ass interviews on fox news about buying politicians & hiring little illegals to cut my grass & trim my mother inlaws rose bushes... and i'd be addicted to percocets & oxys and avoid the slum district like the plague#" - chadwick.
