Simple solution, give up your own guns. You progressives should lead by example.

I like how you use the term " progressives" to refer to liberals, democrats, etc

In a way you are also referring to everyone else as "regressives"

in otherwords the opposite of progress

    Thanks

Many of the areas that have the highest guns/crime/violence are densely populated areas. I think most of the gun violence in this country comes from inner city areas. Perhaps another suggestion to combat gun violence is to address the problems of the inner city. I would start with education, job skill training, and decriminalizing drugs to start addressing these problems.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I use the term because you guys are proud of being labeled anything. Now put up or shut up. Turn in your guns and gun crime goes down. Round up your gangbangers and take their guns. Your crimes are your own. Be the progressive that you are.

I have no guns. I need no guns. I am a big enough man to understand that simply because the Constitution allows us to own guns does not mean that we need to own a small arsenal in our basement. I know the government is not always to blame and no one is coming to take your guns away. And I know that guns do not, in any way, equal or guarantee liberty.

    That is my example.

i would love to round up our "gangbangers", but the republican controlled congress in missouri cut our funding for police... :fp:

gangbangers might be shooting up your neck of the woods, but around the rest of the country it is mainly just sociopaths.

oh yeah, the "crazies" do it too....

we need to keep the guns out of the hands of the crazies, yet ted nugent, the biggest crazy of them all, has an arsenal.

I heard the answer to gun violence... is pouring more guns into the equation.
That means, you should want us to arm all of the gangbangers... so they will be afraid to shoot each other and gun viloence would go down.
    ...
Also... this comment, 'Round up your gangbangers and take their guns.'... well, it sound like you are against the 2nd Amendment, here. They may not be very well regulated, but, can they be considered to be 'Militias'?

Is this gun violence rates per capita, or overall numbers of gun violence? Because if it's over numbers, than the map is pointless.

Actually... the truth is that many people living in the more densely populated areas WANT the guns to be taken off our busy streets... but, the people living in the 200 populations towns don't want us to.

Are you suggesting that this pretty map which has been designed and created to look exactly like the electoral map may not be on the up and up?!?!?

Go ahead and go per capita, Chicago, LA, Detroit, and New York would still trump all.

The how about Cheyenne, Caspar, Podunk and East Bumfuck let Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit and New York take away the guns instead of getting their panties in a bunch and hunkering down with their arsenals every time someone proposes gun restrictions. We really don't give a fuck about your guns in your one horse towns and just want to get the guns off of Crenshaw Boulevard.

This is an interesting map that also compares U.S. cities to other countries. It looks like New Orleans trumps all. New York is pretty low, considering the reputation. Detroit is a distant second to New Orleans. Looks like Chicago is in about 8th place and L.A. 10th. The stereotypical gun loving states in the southeast are highest in gun violence.

I know... I mean, shouldn't the Gun Control advocates be using the Mondale quote in support of their position to ban guns?
    I'm confused here.
