One trillion dollar coin
The idea is being reported that they might make enough to "pay" the debt! :?
Here is my question...
Who will be on this coin?
I say gotta be FDR.

One of the wingnut Christian sites said that "a trillion dollars worth of platinum is enough to sink the Titanic."
Which means (a) they don't know how money works and (b) they didn't see he end of the James Cameron movie.
Republicans rode a wave of "going to Washington to cut spending" and so far they've done nothing. Michele Bachmann has said she would be willing to tank the global economy so she can stick it to President Obama and frankly... they've proven they're too dumb to come up with anything of their own and they're simply unwilling to even talk out deals.
So the president is going to fix it all by himself.
And if you don't like it... maybe come up with a viable candidate for president next time.

first I would like to say how much I dislike Michelle Bachmann as a person and as a legislator, but do you have a link to your claim she said she would be willing to tank the global economy? I did a quick googling of it and I cannot seem to find anything...
what about this trillion dollar coin idea is a good one? I know no one likes it, but we have a debt ceiling and we have a house of reps that control spending and its limits. If the Dems want a free pass to raise it they should have had more viable house candidates.
If it was a good idea that is as harmless as people like Krugman would have you believe than why hasn't it been done? In order for it to not raise inflation, the Fed would have to remove a trillion dollars from their books without harming purchasing power of every dollar...I just don't see how that would be done, not saying it couldn't, I just don't see how it would be done...if this idea being thought of as a good one doesn't prove that our monetary system and policy are a joke I don't know what will.
just make yourself a trillion dollars...I am sure nothing bad will happen...why do we believe that the same masterminds like Krugman, who thought the best way to get out of a recession in 2002 was to inflate a housing bubble can accurately predict what effect this will have on the world's economy and the confidence in the dollar 10 years from now?
It is terrifying when you are too stupid to know who is dumb

They did. Had we had the same VOTES in the election that we just had but the DISCTRICTS were the same before the Republican Gerrymandering, Democrats would have taken back the house.
They got the popular vote but Republicans gerrymandered their districts so much, many of them resemble Italy.
So... if they want to play with the rules like that... So will the president.
It's a really stupid idea. As for your last line, I sure the hell hope so.
It's easy to find her paranoid ramblings about how a global economy leads to a world government so she doesn't want to be part of it. It's also easy to fine her talking about how she wouldn't support raising the debt ceiling (which does NOT mean "spend more" it means "pay for the things she already agreed/voted to buy") and then there's the odd clip where she admits her hope is that unemployment goes up to help her campaign.
And there are countless clips like this.
Do you not understand how money works? Nobody is suggesting that.
oh dear. Someone is off their meds again.
All of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch.
Didn't good old Monty Burns steal a billion dollar bill? I remember a "yoink" when he snatched it..
