Like those troublemakers allowing gay marriage when it's not recognized federally?
And those criminals allowing medical marijuana when it's a federal crime?
some states have attempted and stopped laws to introduce gay marriage....

What about the states that have legalized gay marriage in direct opposition to federal law? Do they need a rocket up their ass because they think they are bigger than the country and its federal laws?
There is no federal law against "gay marriage."
And I'd prefer it to be called "marriage equality," since really... mine is no different than yours.
The Defense of Marriage Act isn't a law to stop marriage at the state level, it's a law that keeps legal marriage in one state from being recognized in another. It's a bit silly and it will be overturned. But the federal assault weapon ban isn't the same thing.
There is no federal law against gay marriage. There are laws that say marriages in one state do not have to be recognized in another and that there is no federal recognition of same-sex marriage but there is no law "against" it.
Pretty big distinction.
wait until all the wing-nuts have killed each other.
open then as national parks.
Fair point. My response was directed at his notion that states should accept federal laws or pound sand. I would stand by the analogy in the recognition of marriage equality versus the lack thereof at the federal level (or at least broadly across all states).
That said.. not sure if states CAN over-ride a federal law. Much like how technically, the marijuana laws can still be enforced at the federal level, they're just not doing it.
