  • sad indeed, greed ignorance and indifference oh and poverty of course are a nasty combination. what really makes me sad is how intelligent these animals have proven to be on top of remembering their dead and what not...and people still hunt them for fun.
if you think what I believe is stupid, bizarre, ridiculous or outrageous.....it's ok, I think I had a brain tumor when I wrote that.

They remain isolated and suck up resources for 1.3 billion people. They cheat on their currency and labor in camps. They have labor slaves and sex slaves. They need to implement Unions for the people's rights. Just dont let the Unions become part of the political process, or influence it!

  • I took in a building permit application a few years ago for a guy who was adding a 2nd story to his garage to create a 'trophy' room. I asked the applicant - who was the architect, not the owner - what kind of trophies the room was for, thinking that this is the PNW, dude must be big into triathlons or something.

The architect tells me the owner is an avid hunter and he pulls out a spreadsheet. This fucking spreadsheet is a list big game animals with categories for where they can be found, whether or not he's killed one, and if so, when and where. I was furious, but I couldn't show it. I could only say, "Well, I'm glad the owner's not here, because I would have a lot of trouble being nice to him."

Looking over the list, which included big cats, an elephant and a black rhino, I felt pretty sure that it was illegal to hunt some of the animals. And, if I could use that as an excuse to reject the application, I would. However, every person with that authority didn't see it as a problem. Worse, in all of my frustration, I forgot to make a copy of the damned list. I still regret that.

It disgusts me that there are people out there with such a wish-hitlist.

According to an article in a recent National Geographic, it is the Roman Catholic population in the Philippines that is the MAJOR market for ivory, not China. China is the destination of tiger parts and a portion of the rhino horn. The Arabic states also consume rhino horn.....traditional knife handles, if you can believe it.
