Now this guy is a proper artist. Not a word from him for 10 years and then releases a new single and announces an album out of the blue.

Just listened to the new single here: http://www.davidbowie.com/vision?videopremiere=true

I love Bowie.... Great news for music in general he is back... music needs him! :D

  • This is fantastic news!!!

I certainly won't complain for what we haven't got(1st in 10yrs) cause I've been on board with his music for over 30years. It's been a really great ride being a fan of his. I really had given up all hope that there would be new music from David and BOOM there it is! Really wish he'd tour one more time, not for me particularly, but for the new fans who don't know.

well if he does tour would like to see him play his old stuff as the 80's , (other than his commercial success)and 90's were not his best offerings. i was there when duran duran opened for him with the giant spider stage. that tour stunk. duran duran was better. saw him again after that wasn't much better. so as i say if he tours i hope he plays more of his earliest material. not just lets dance, which i still have a hard time listening to.

Great to hear that the master has returned! Hopefully I can finally catch him live this year.

Always been a greatest hits fan, but got so much respect for the man. I'll check out the new record and it might lead me on to check out more of his stuff, thats usually the way i get into new artists. An absolute legend, great to see him return out of the blue!

First thing I read this morning, and was so happy, I almost cried! Fan-fuckin-tastic news. I've been saying forever that he needs to hook up with Tony Visconti again. Great news. I'm kind of doubting a tour though.

Please don't doubt a tour! I need to see him live, if only once! I agree, it's not the most likely thing, but c'mon, think positive thoughts.

Good vibes, indeed, for both of us. Judging by how many great tours already lined up for 2013, we could be in luck. :D

I'm hopeful that this could be the year that I see all my favourites, no other year has had even a possibility of Bowie.

This is great news! Will listen to this, even if I don't expect anything in particular. I'm soooo happy I caught him live years ago. He had sworn he would never do Ziggy Stardust again live, but he did and he didn't disappoint. It was great.

The new album is streaming on iTunes!

iTunes isn't Linux-friendly, so I'll have to wait for a rip of the stream, or for the proper release before I hear it.

I did! I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy, so I'll take those odds. Even if I have to travel to see him, I am intent on finally catching a Bowie concert.

Mmmm, gotta say it faded into the background for me a bit tbh. Not to threadjack but I think I'm liking Chelsea Light Moving more now actually.

That's not bad... although its sound has no relation to David Bowie's at all, so not sure why you went there, but that's cool - always good to hear new music. :D

^^^^ oh just was having an evening of catching up on listening to stuff that'd been floating around on facebook & had listened to Bowie's new one & the CLM & so that was what came to mind last night. Have to give both albums more listenings of course. :)

That would be amazing. And if Iman is pulling my chain, well...I don't need another reason to dislike her.
Side note: LOVING The Next Day! I was worried because I pretty much hated Reality, and that's hard for me to say. TND is definitely reminiscent of the Berlin Trilogy. It reminds me of Lodger, with hints of Scary Monsters. 8-)

I was just thinking how cool it is to see Bowie hooked up with Tony Visconti again. Very cool!
Low, Heroes, Lodger, Scary Monsters, and Stage alone are an incredible run. Great stuff! I'd love to see Bowie work with and or all of these guys again too-- Brian Eno , Carlos Alomar, Adrina Below, Robert Fripp .
