why would you want to draft a running back higher when the coach isn't going to commit to the run?

Well, besides no run game, you can't turn it over twice inside your own 30 and miss a chip shot FG. That's a 13 point swing.
    Alright, alright, alright!

  • Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers all gave up game-winners within a span of 8 minutes yesterday.  Not the feat that a Philly fan wants to hear, I'm sure, but an impeccably timed feat nonetheless.

3:38 Eagles give up lead for good
3:45 Phillies give up lead for good
3:46 Flyers give up GWG in OT

yes there were times where even I thought they should have run more yesterday.  the mains reasons for the loss though:

mistakes - missed fg, fumbled punt and a terrible interception. how do you hit a d-lineman in the head as he is stumbling? just an awful pass by Wentz.  Not beating really good teams on the road with those 3 huge mistakes.

defense got torched in the 2nd half.  lost in all the run-pass ratio talk is the defense, which was awesome in the 1st half, got torched in the 2nd half.  Eagles took the lead and the D let the Chiefs go 83 yards in 6 plays to regain the lead. too easy too quick.  Eagles come back and tie it and after one good series by D and the INT they give up a TD.  Still within a TD after an Eagles punt they let KC go 56 yards in 6 plays to essentially end the game.  3 TDs in a span of about one quarter of play time-wise. not very good.

worse than the play calling was some of the protection calls. After KC took the lead the 1st play of the next drive Birds had Zach Ertz trying to block Houston. And twice late in the game Sproles got blown up on blitzes.

....oh and i'm almost forgot another reason for the loss. that other coach is a great fucking coach.  and we had him...and ran him out of town. gets more glaring year after year as he just continues to win NFL games.

Front 7 looks nasty. Douglas impressed me. Running game is a complete joke and Wentz is going to get killed at some point if things continue like this.

I also don't think we missed McLeod. He takes bad paths to the ball too often.

Douglas, Hollins & Barnett looked good. Vinny "almost" Curry is at it again, 6 sacks in his last 36 games. There were 2 selfish plays earlier in that game, Watkins & Jenkins both going for picks instead of knocking the ball down gave up completions.

one thing not mentioned is you are not beating a really good team (and coach) on the road when you lose the turnover battle.  KC doesn't turn it over very often.

Not good when Wentz leads the team in rushing.  Did I miss something but where was Blount yesterday?  Did he play or is he hurt?  Think we can beat the Giants at home.

he had one rush called back because of a penalty. there is only one other play where i can recall him being in the backfield for.

Imagine how much more dynamic this offense could be with someone like Hunt in the backfield...Chiefs got him in the 3rd round.

Whoever watched that game and didn't think the turnovers weren't the difference between winning and losing wasn't paying attention.

sentiment seems to be the Eagles are going to have their way with the Giants. I don't see it. Giants have been lousy and their backs are against the wall. throw in a banged up Eagles secondary and I see a couple of big plays by the Giants.  I think the Eagles pull it out but I think it's gonna be tight. say 19-17 Birds.

There's the running game!  Too bad they aren't using Blount as much.  Looked decent the times he rushed the ball.  Go birds!

really good win. 2-0 in division and conference is huge.  this team has some toughness to it. they battle even when guys get knocked out with injuries.

the NFL pass catch rules are insane.  If you can take 3 steps in the end zone after catching it and not be a touchdown the rules are fucked up.  that Giants pass has to be a TD.  just awful.

I normally like Pederson's aggressiveness on 4th downs but that one at the end of the 1st half yesterday was one of the dumbest in game moves by an Eagles coach in a long time. 4th and 8th where you weren't exactly lighting the lamp offensively with a banged up secondary against a 2 time Super Bowl MVP QB you have to punt there and pin them deep.

Great kick by Elliott but he still stinks.  2 misses in 2 games after only going 3-6 in pre-season.  For sure there is a chance he improves with NFL coaching but so far not impressed.

It was too hot for football yesterday. Great win. The game was actually kind of boring for 3 q's. Crazy 4th quarter, 37 points total scored. Nice to see some rookies making plays. Wentz' deep ball is off.
