isn't it Chips fault there is no depth at linebacker?
najee goode was the depth at middle lb. he tore his pectoral muscle in week 1 and is out of the for season. I don't know how you blame the coach for that.

no i'd blame the coach and/or gm for having najee goode as your top backup linebacker. but hey we got 4 tight ends so we can dress them all and line up with no wide receivers. innovative 8-|

Your dislike for Chip is insane. I bet you were ok with the trash Reid had at Wr for all those years though. Just say I love Reid and wish his bad coaching style/adjustments was still in town. Kelly has done nothing but improve this team, yet you act like he's a clown.

yeah i don't get what he's talking about. najee goode proved to be a capable enough backup middle lb last year, especially when kedricks missed that one game.
they can't afford to have kendricks out for an extended period of time. both him and cox have elevated their games this year....big loss. i'm a little nervous about sunday.

huh? every pundit before the season said the Eagles lack of depth at linebacker was a concern but somehow when I say it it's something else? please. it's a legitimate concern that everyone has not just me.
and I don't hate Chip Kelly as a coach. I hate the stunning adulation that the media and many of the fans have given the guy to this point. for a guy who has yet to win a playoff game he sure is treated with kid gloves and treated like a hall of fame coach. apparently he is above being criticized. I should have known I guess.

"every" pundit didn't talk about the lack of depth until travis long got hurt right before the season started. had he and goode stayed healthy, the eagles would have enjoyed the luxury of a couple decent backup lb's, with long being able to fill in on the outside and the inside. most teams actually do not have that luxury.
and nobody is above being criticized but at least give a legit criticism, like maybe for the marcus smith pick, an outside lb. hopefully the d continues to play better and they end up not really needing too much out of him until next year. but you want production out of your first round pick in his first year, no doubt.
at this point in reid's tenure, he was receiving similiar adulation for turning around a dead in the water franchise. it is the same thing with chip, only chip is seen more as an innovator than big red. and the national guys love chip too. the local media was just ahead of the curve last year.
enjoy these times, man. the birds are finally moving in the right direction.

i'm not calling anyone a genius but reid was getting a lot of praise at this point in his tenure because it was evident he had that team was moving in the right direction. the record in year one, doesn't mean much to me as long as the team improves and they did by the end of the '99 season, plus they developed a franchise qb. also, i don't remember exactly, but after the pickle juice game, i bet there were plenty of people calling reid a genius at that point.
agree about the draft picks, but in the nfl, you need production out of your first rounder in the first year regardless.
Kelly effect: Over-Unders of 50 points or more commonplace for Eagles games Posted by Mike Wilkening on September 20, 2014, 10:33 PM EDT
In addition to point spreads, oddsmakers post totals, or Over-Unders, on every pro football game. The total is a projection of the combined total points expected to be tallied by both clubs in a given contest, and bettors can either wager on the game finishing OVER or UNDER the total.
The logic behind the total is fairly straightforward; if two clubs with excellent quarterbacks are to meet in a climate-controlled setting, a total set in the 50s — a high final score — is a given. However, if two struggling offenses meet in the cold, the total might not hit 40.
We mention totals as we consider Sunday’s Washington-Philadelphia contest. At multiple Nevada sportsbooks, the prevailing Over-Under for this NFC East matchup is 50.5 points.
If the Philadelphia-Washington game closes at 50 points or higher, it will mark the 14th time in coach Chip Kelly’s 20-game tenure that an Eagles regular season or postseason matchup has had a total in the 50s, according to the Spreadapedia point spread database. That’s a 70 percent clip.
By contrast, only 10 games in Andy Reid’s 262 regular season and postseason contests in Philadelphia and Kansas City have had a total of 50 points or more — a 3.8 percent rate.
To be fair, totals have begun to inch up in recent seasons. There were 100 games with a total of 50 points or more in 2013, compared to 74 in 2012, 56 in 2011 and just 12 in 2010, per Spreadapedia. With some powerful offenses around the league and the pace of play picking up, it’s easy to see why high Over-Unders have become more commonplace.
Which brings us back to Kelly and all of those totals of 50-plus points. The OVER has cashed in 8-of-13 such games, a 61.5 percent clip. That’s a success rate that beats the house edge.
Which explains why you’re not going to see many low totals in Eagles games as long as the Kelly offense keeps humming.

well, that game had everything. ugly as hell, but 3-0 feels awesome.

that was a fun game. little bit of everything. seems like the Skins games here always ending up coming down to the end. big win though. home division game against probably the 2nd best team in the division. foles took a beating and thought Birds were in big trouble when Peters got tossed but the line gutted it out and gave him just enough time. 1st team in NFL history to start 3-0 having faced 10 or more point deficits in each game. this is not your fathers NFL boys.
I was able to dvr without knowing the result. Here's hoping Jeff Stoutland is a miracle worker. Got Molk? I was surprised they didn't let Sproles or Polk get a few carries in the second half.

not just that play. he hasn't been very good at all this year. Jacksonville torched him early.
professional athletes shouldn't be getting tired because of practice. just a bizarre time to bring something like that up.
Now this game is what can be considered a letdown/trap game....or just an honest, flat-out loss. All signs point to them losing this game - 3 game winning streak, O-line completely tore up, defense giving up a shit load of points, San Fran is angry, not playing well, and are due to turn it around even a little bit. As much as I hope they do win, I'd take the Niners this week.

Valid points but maybe SF just isn't as good anymore. Maybe they're on a backslide. Plus they have the DV issue hanging over them. Solid D but Kap is regressing.

professional athletes shouldn't be getting tired because of practice. just a bizarre time to bring something like that up.
