The article is relevant for obvious reasons. I assume he will be compared to his mentor for quite a while...just like any other coach coming from someone else's coaching tree is (probably even more so since Reid lobbied for him to get the job here). That is normal and just the way it is.

Even after Super Bowl season 4 playoff appearances and 3 playoff wins in 8 years. yup that qualifies as just 'eh' - i mean wtf? and you wonder why it annoys me when fans and media insist on taking shots at the guy. it's terrible memories or just plain stupidity. 2 bad years at the end sure but to say a decade was just 'eh' is asinine.

Not sure why you get your panties in such a bunch whenever someone brings up Andy Reid. He was very good for the first 4 or 5 years here. Things were awesome in the early part of the 2000's. Nobody denies that. But to pretend like his "greatness" continued all the way until 2012 is laughable (and coming from someone who always derided the manager across the street who actually won something makes it even more laughable).

If Doug has half the amount of success Reid had through 2004, I'd be happy. But I'd like to think he will he will not only take the good things and expand on them but learn from all of things Reid did poorly...such as his over dependence on the pass which is simply why this article was written.

Simple stuff here.

fyi: half of Andy's success through 2004 would be just over 5 wins a year on average.

run/pass ratio is a tired stupid argument that people bring up because they got nothing else. Andy's run/pass ratio has allowed him to become one of only 5 ( think it was) coaches who have won 10 or more games 10 or more times in an NFL regular season. so yea i don't think his run/pass ratio has hurt his career at all. still winning games at the NFL level too.

edit: has this franchise ever only had 2 losing seasons in an 8 year period that was Andy's last 8 years here?

Most people are rational and can respect the amount of success he had here. Some are foolish and think he and McNabb sucked just because of their last memories of them. And some are on the other end of the spectrum, like Hawks, who seem to want to erect a statue for him. As always, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I think highly of him too. But I'm rational enough to realize the last 8 years he spent here were filled with largely mediocre football and poor personnel decisions like hiring his offensive line coach to coordinate the defense.

Donovan is on the shortlist this year but probably won't get in. Andy may get the call if he wins a super bowl....otherwise he'll be one of those borderline coaches like Reeves, and Schottenheimer (and to be clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with being in the same class as those guys). ---for those scoring at home, that is a rational point of view.

well boys it looks like we got ourselves a franchise QB. highly impressed at this point. was still a tad leery before last night but after last night i'm fully on the Wentz wagon. I mean the guy has it all. i usually don't jump this quick (see my comments back when Foles was lighting it up) but no reason not to on Wentz. it's actually scary how good he could end up being when you see how he has reacted in his 1st two NFL starts. barring injuries the sky is the limit. stoked to see where this goes. crazy to think if Teddy Bridgewater doesn't get hurt Wentz would be 3rd string at this point.

the worst play in football is a running play on 1st and goal from outside the 7. just a wasted down.

can you imagine how frustrating it must be to be a Bears fan and have to watch Jay Cutler every week? he has some talent but just an overall loser QB.

and i still hate kickers.

While many predicted that the rookie out of North Dakota State would take a step back after his impressive debut versus the Browns (PFF analysts included), Wentz threw for 190 yards, a touchdown, and no picks against the Bears — he’s yet to throw a pick this year — on his way to an 87.0 game grade. Wentz’s yardage total should have been considerably higher, as his receivers dropped two deep passes that, if completed, would have totaled another 76 yards.
