wow! I haven't been following this very closely...had read that he'd assembled some supergroup for this...but that's like 10 supergroups.

"Mantra" – Grohl, Homme, and Trent Reznor

I was already stoked about this, but now the wait feels unendurable!
  • Cut me some slack is nice. Opens up sounding like Wolfmother and then blends into something like Helmet than Paul M. kicks in and is singing? I know I am gunna like this album. If only on vinyl. I'd like to blow the windows out with this one. ;)

That was one of my favorite songs live at the Sound City Players gig in Hollywood. Also really like the Alain Johannes track "Trick With No Sleeve." Saw them play 7 of the songs on the album. No Macca but did like that song on SNL and 12.12.12. From the film, it looks like the Homme/Reznor/Grohl track might be instrumental.

A lot of Mantra was played in the actual film. The song was awesome (instrumental from what I saw) and the film is astounding. You can rent it on itunes. Check it out.

Bought the movie and soundtrack yesterday. Both are really great. So many great albums recorded at that studio. Cool to see Rick Springfield rocking out with the Foos.

Cool story about Rick. A few years ago he played in my hometown on St.John's, Newfoundland. Anyways the night he arrived on the island there was a snow storm and he ended up having to land in Gander which is like 3- 4 hours outside St.John's. Anyways I was at the show and word started to spread that he was in Gander and might not make it to the show, but then..boom.. he was there. The dude rented a car or got a taxi not sure which and fuckin drove from Gander to St.John's in a snow strom. I gained so much respect for this guy after that.... and not to mention the show was awesome. During the show he made a comment of how he thought he was going to die on the trans canada highway.... anyways not to bore anyone but the guys a trooper and fuckin loves what he does.

I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but I think it's a pretty average listen overall. Nothing awful, outside of Your Wife Is Calling. Starts off alright hits that low, then picks up steam as the rest of the album rolls.

Predictably, for me, the best tracks are the ones with Alain Johannes. Guys just a badass!

Centipede is by far and away the most interesting tune. Sounds like a lost TCV track.
