I wasn't going to post here on AMT any more for a while but I feel very strongly about this gun issue and here's why: We're having a very hard dealing with this here in our local town. Dan was a regular customer, a very nice young man and a good friend in our circle. Gun death in America is out of control. When it hits close to home the last thing you want to hear is gun enthusiasts going on and on about their right to own guns.

Placerville Local Dan Ferrier Dies in Sac New Year's Eve Shooting - Services Planned Jan 7th
Friends say 36-year old Dan Ferrier Dedicated his life to save others. In the Army for 8 years he served two tours in Iraq. On New Years Eve he was filling in for another employee.
Sports Corner Cafe bouncer Dan Ferrier has been confirmed as one of the two victims killed in the New Years Eve shooting.
Police say the incident started as an argument inside the bar at about 9:38 p.m. that escalated and became a physical confrontation. When an employee tried to break up the fight, he was shot, as were others. That man, Placerville resident Dan Ferrier, died at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

OK, I'm done, I'll go back into hiding.

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...
I AM MINE
No you're not...if you use it for violence, you are a coward. You are a coward because you couldnt get it done without a gun. You couldnt use reason. You couldnt use some common sense. You let your aggression and stone age demeanor overtake your ability to act like a decent human. And now a life is gone. Its disgusting.
I also find it disgusting that I cant open up the Palm Beach Post website on a daily basis without seeing a shooting in the headlines, whether its accidental, a kid, a toddler, a cop, or a gang member...its almost everyday, and its sad.
While I'm not a "gun enthusiast", I support responsible ownership (whatever the fuck that even means anymore) and checks/restrictions to be in place. Of course folks don't need to be cocky about this regardless of their opinions, but it doesn't negate the views of people like me - fairly levelheaded and certainly not a gun nut, I do believe.
Again, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.

I did not post this news as a way of personally getting at any of those of you who support gun ownership because I very much doubt any of you are irresponsible or dangerous that way. Unfortunately, as a society, that is all too often not the case. I would like to see all guns go away but they won't. But letting people walk around with guns all over the place- in bars and such- that must end. At the very least, I would like to see gun ownership be very difficult and very restricted. Too much killing, too much pain, too much loss.
Thanks all for you kind support.
Hail, Hail!!!
