This is so sad to me that our food and our lifestyles are causing our children to have shorter lifespans than we do. Processed food is addictive and it makes it really difficult to "diet" or really change our eating habits when we are encouraged to keep eating the very foods that make us sick. I have found that when I slip off the wagon and eat processed foods I feel worse and I start to crave these foods all the time. Unfortunately, our medical infrastructure seems to have little understanding of the role of modern food on our bodies and they they continue to prescribe the wrong things to "help".
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I read the article: it's amazing how kids bodies are built, my nephew is 6, he is very tall for his age, and quite overwight... this girl reminded me of the kids from the HBO documentary specials The Weight of a Nation, my god, it's astonishing how kids get such dreadful deseases at such young age...
