Anyone else went to the show? It was awesome. I've never seen either (well, I saw Coldplay do a 3-song set at The Secret Policeman's Ball last year and Chris Martin during the 12-12-12 Sandy benefit concert but never full blown shows. I don't think I would have gone to see either on their own but I simply couldn't miss a double bill that may never happen again.

Coldplay was a ton of fun. Love the light show with the wrist bands and Chris' enthusiasm. I can't believe how much he bounces and tumbles on stage! He's like doing aerobics or something :lol::lol: Goosebumps during Yellow, I've loved the song since it came out and have always wanted to hear it live. 12 years is a long time to wait but it was worth it :) Of course Lost with Jay Z was awesome like I expected.

Jay Z totally blew me away. I'm not a hip hop fan but I'm now a Jay Z fan. And apparently I know more Jay Z songs than I realized, thanks to clubbing days when I first moved to NYC :lol::lol: Pearl Jam can play with him anytime. I love watching him do his thing, he's a genuine person and just loves Brooklyn and NYC. It was the perfect way to spend New Year's. I'd do it every year (he mentioned wanting to, hope it happens). They just need to coordinate so that Beyonce can be there as well, would have been epic if she had been there for the female parts. Or Alicia Keys. Or both. Okay, I'm probably asking for the moon.

HAPPY 2013 :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

  • No, seeing I live in Toronto. I did go see Coldplay in 2008 and while I did like their show, but felt that something was missing. I probably wasn't in the right mind-frame at the time. I did go see Coldplay again on September 21, 2011 at the Parking Lot of MuchMusic Headquarters. They played 14 songs, 65 minutes and it was televised/streamed online. Even better, it was a free show. They actually had lasers, confetti and even fireworks.

    Now for Jay-Z, I never attended a solo show but last year, when my parents & I were on vacation in Paris, France from May 28 to June 2, I attended the Watch The Throne: Jay-Z/Kanye West concert at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on June 1 by myself. It was a really great show. I thought Jay-Z was the better of the two rappers. They finished the show playing N**gas In Paris 11 times in a row. I didn't attend the Watch The Throne show when it came to Toronto in 2011 because it was really too expensive ($250 CAD), but the most expensive tickets for the Paris show was 78.50 euros (not including shipping charges). It is interesting to note that I thought about going to see Soundgarden on May 29 at Le Zenith, but when I found out that the Watch The Throne was also coming to Paris, I decided to go to that instead.

    I have to admit, not sure if I will try to see Coldplay again. I do love Chris Martin and I love some of their songs, but a short super flashy show is just not what I'm into. It was great for New Year's plus the double bill with Jay Z. I would totally go to a Jay Z show again.

    Oh, and Jay Z >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kanye. I could not watch Kanye at all during the 12.12.12 benefit. I really tried but wasn't into his thing (plus the bright lights burning holes in my cornea did not help) so I ended up staring at the floor :lol::lol:

    Coldplay are currently on a three-year hiatus and I don't know if I would want to go see them again or not. As for Jay-Z, I wouldn't mind go see him solo though I already have quite a number of shows to go to this year. Plus, I want to save money for The Orion Music and More Festival in Detroit, Michigan on June 8 & 9. It is a festival curated by Metallica. Plus, Pearl Jam may return to Toronto this year as Pearl Jam said that they would announced U.S shows in the coming months. Maybe they will come to Barclays Center, so I don't know.
