this speculation thread could last years.........

    This is very true!

I would love to hear a soundboard quality version of the very underrated 1996 Toronto show.

Maybe they will remix all, or a majority, of the 1998 shows. They could put a redemption code for 1 of the shows in the box set so the purchaser could choose the show they want. All of the other shows could be made available for purchase seperatly.

Any video of any complete show would be great! I would thoroughly enjoy watching & listening to any video they would release. Hopefully the can do it on Bluray also for the better quality.

A quality release of a 98 show. Fuck some of those were good but so many are of bad quality...

I'll second that! If they include nothing else but a quality 98 I'll be happy. They have to actually do the no code/yield release though. Would be a great thing to tide fans over while waiting on a new album

"Go" from LO2L came up on shuffle last night and it got me really excited for a potential live show release from this tour. Ferocious version of "Go" from the album.

There is a soundboard recording from Melbourne 98 which is very good but would love to be able to hear MSG 2 which is widely acknowldeged as the best PJ show ever. The vault has some beauties i am sure that are waiting to bust out

Would be a nice soundboard. Surely a great show. Widely acknowledged as their best ever I'd beg to differ, might not even be their best show of the tour.

MSG 2 = best show of the tour and probably a top 5 all time.

    Witness:

09/11/98 – Madison Square Garden: New York, NY [130m]
    support act: Ben Harper
set: Release, Hail Hail, Animal, Even Flow, Given to Fly, Corduroy, MFC, Habit, Faithfull, Daughter/(Beginning to See the Light)/(WMA), Wishlist, Nothingman, Immortality, RVM, Brain of J, Black, Do the Evolution
enc 1: Breath, State of Love and Trust, Off He Goes, Leatherman, Better Man/(Save it for Later), Mankind, Baba O’Riley
enc 2: Indifference (with Ben Harper), Alive
notes: Returning for the encore and yet another sea of “Breath” signs on ever single level of the Garden, Ed tells the crowd they are never satisfied:

“You fucking cocksuckers. [shakes head] You fucking bitch! You know, we come up here as a collective band and we give and we give and you just fucking want more … and you know what? You deserve it. This is like some kind of organized religion here; I’ve never seen anything like it. Do you see what’s happening? … the third night in a row, right? [applause] Well, fuck you. We’re gonna play it!”

leading to the first playing of ‘Breath’ since 1994!!! woo hoo!!! With a brief announcement (“same record, different track”), they follow with ‘SoL&T.’ ‘Mankind’ is introduced by Stone saying, “Well, since we’re playing every song in the catalog…” ‘Baba’ is intro’d as being a response to “corporate rock bands who make the mistake of trying to cover a real rock song.” ‘Indifference’ is played with an ecstatic Ben Harper (who has been including ‘Indifference’ at some of his shows). During ‘Alive,’ Ed makes four attempts to toss his microphone over the vocal monitor rig above his head, and finally gets it over, but instead of just standing there, he proceeds to CLIMB UP THE MIC CORD and hang there for the rest of the song. Possibly the best show the band has ever played in their life. Period. (And they knew it, too.)
    1996: Randall's Island 2  1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2  2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel  2005: Atlantic City 1  2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV)  2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4  2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2  2011: Toronto 1  2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore  2015: Central Park  2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD)  2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF)  2020: MSG | Asbury Park  2021: Asbury Park  2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville  2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore  2025: Raleigh 2

  • The beauty of this band is that my favorite show might not be someone else's top 15. That's why they are the best because every single person on this board would have a different top 5 shows. Which is pretty damn awesome.
    '08- Camden 1-2   '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4
    '10- MSG 1-2   '11- PJ20
'12- MIA; DeLuna '13- Wrigley; Pitt; Brooklyn 1-2; Philly 1-2; Baltimore; Seattle
    '14- Denver   '16- Philly 1-2; MSG 2
    '17- Pilgrimage Music Fest (Eddie)
    '18- Fenway

  • This was the era when I fully jumped on board the PJ bandwagon so needless to say I'm excited for the reissue.

I'm guessing it will cover 96-98 and we'll get the 1998 Monkeywrench tape and maybe something from the Rolling Stones or MSG shows.
    So this life is sacrifice...
