Celebration Day. Zeppelin

edited January 2013 in Other Music
Any of you fuckers see this yet, is this old news around here.
What did ya think of it?

I love the band, have for years, but I'm glad they won't tour.
The show seemed very different to what I recall Zeppelin sounding like, Jason Bonham is. Good drummer but he has a different style than his father, even if he was copying him.
Plant can't sing the songs the way he once did and for obvious reasons.
It's best they leave it as is.

  • My brother bought it for me for Christmas but I haven't watched it yet. I know it won't be Zeppelin of the 70's, it'll be Zeppelin near their 70's. Still gonna groove.

I have it, but I haven't watched it yet. I have a pile of concert films that I'm plowing through. And it just got bigger because my neighbor, among a few other things in his "Rock Care Package" Christmas Present (like a guitar tuner and The Who "Hull 1970" CD), gave me "The T.A.M.I. Show" and "The Who Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970".

I've heard it's really great though. There's only been one reunion (that I've seen, and can remember at the moment) that I thought was OUTSTANDING, and that was Cream. I'm thinking, and I'm being told by others, that this ranks up there.

I've got it and love it.

Yeah, they do sound different. Page is using alot more drive in his guitar and they tune down some tunes, but I don't think there are many bands, now or ever, that could pull off a show as great as the O2 gig. Most other acts in their age bracket sound like shells of themselves. Gilmour's 06 tour is the only thing that I can think of that comes as close to the glory days.

Saw this in the theatre back in October and thought it was amazing, especially with the huge screen and full sound. Loved the cinematography. It's the closest I'll ever get to seeing them live so I loved it. Now, to find a friend with a great home theatre system to watch the DVD on. :)

Had this for a while and it is awesome. Also managed to watch it at the cinema with a packed audience which was pretty special.

To young to have seen the band in their prime but this gig keeps me happy and gives me a glimmer of hope that they will do one final gig.

Watched it last night with my wife...we were both loving it! Of course they aren't going to sound like they did in the 70's, but I like how they dropped tuned all of the songs to suit Robert Plant's voice.

Fuckers? Celebration Day is great. Who got to see them in their heyday? This is the best you can ever wish for. A one off chance of a lifetime. I'm personally delighted for Jason Bonham that he got to include this day in his life. No Quarter and Kashmir sound completely amazing but then there's nothing bad about this show. A tour would cheapen it but they had the sense to know that.

  • I think they sound awesome on it. Maybe not as good as in there prime but still damn good. Honestly, I thought the opposite and thought how amazing it would be if they recorded a new album, honoring John by having his son drum on it. Just one more album. Now that would shake up the rock world.

I was one of the lucky ones that was there that night, and the concert dvd certainly does it justice. It was just an amazing evening, it was incredible to be there for such a historic gig - probably the highlight of my 30 years on Earth. I'll never forget that moment of darkness and hearing the opening chords to Good Times, Bad Times - still gives me chills even thinking about it.

I just have to say that the solo on No Quarter at this show was out-fucking-standing!
