He has been a good Senator for Massachusetts and I have voted for him, but I do worry he may not be as precise with language sometimes as the chief diplomat needs to be.

The worst news out of this is rumors of Ted Kennedy's son running for Kerry's senate seat. That's just what the country needs. :fp:

Living here I am always surprised at how weak the Democratic bench is here for candidates. Teddy's son and widow have both been dangled as serious candidates in part because there is no one else. Not sure either would beat Scott Brown in an election without Obama's coattails.

I think if anything, what made him a bad presidential candidate might make him a good diplomat. In Presidential campaigns, there isn't really any room for in-depth thought or intricacies on issues. Things have to be said that can't be easily used out of context or that don't fit on bumper stickers.

In diplomacy, you need someone who can convey complicated messaging. I think Kerry can do that, and he is very well versed in world politics.

I don't see it as a bad choice really.

I wouldn't say he is a bad choice either. I just have that one concern that he will need to walk back statements made more often than maybe Hillary did.

The fact that Ben Affleck is actually mentioned alongside some of the Kennedys shows many of these names are just being tossed out to create conversation.

Could be the better choice, but she fell on the sword and it wasn't the GOP who gave her the sword.

If sent back to the Senate, Scott Brown would increasingly pander to the radical Right in hopes of securing a VP slot in 2016. I would consider him as candidate for Governor but never as a Senator.

Electoral guru Nate Silver on Scott Brown:

"t is difficult to view Mr. Brown as much better than even money: he is a Republican in Massachusetts who lost an election by a reasonably clear margin just last month. And if Mr. Brown wins, he could well face another competitive election in November 2014, when Democrats will have more chance to gear up from the race – and when Mr. Patrick will have finished his second term as governor and might be more likely to run for the Senate. One thing is for certain: if Mr. Brown is the senator from Massachusetts in January 2015, he will have earned it, having run for office four times in less than five years."

 No she wasn't. She may have been a good candidate, but she is not the BETTER candidate vs. Kerry (And I am far from a Kerry fan).
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
