The new I-tunes 7 now makes song transitions gapless. So you can listen to an entire show without annoying little breaks.

thought it was good news for the PJ community.

What timing....I happen to be installing the new iTunes as we *speak*....

It's currently "determining gapless playback information" for 5500+ songs.

Guess I'll be here for a while.

I'm super excited to pick up an 80gig

I just got rid of my 30 gig to pick up a 60 gig and today I find out I get 20 more gigs + gapless playback for $50 less!

Itunes has had this facility since Itunes 5.x... its not that new.. why some people persist with Windows Media Player is beyond me... iTunes has always been the best player imo...

The iPod transition part is new though.... :)

Mind sharing with me how it's done? :)

I'm assuming you're talking about the crossfader? My iTunes has never popped up with that little message about converting tunes to gapless before, and I've never found any setting about gapless playback (other than crossfading playback, which isn't gapless).... I'm prepared to admit I may be wrong though ;)
I agree with you on WMP tthough, I've used iTunes for over two years now... well before I even got my first iPod! (Originally I downloaded it for ease of sorting my music).

    as am I :o

oops, i jumped in with 2 feet on this one... i meant it has the facility to BURN the discs so there is no gaps between discs, as i know a lot of people have had issues with this problem..

sorry... as for crossfading, right enough it doesnt do it seemlessly but its still ok, although i'll definitely upgrade to 7 for the seamless transitions methinks

right so the gapless thing works really well!!!!

i tested it by using the dublin boot, between why go and education a girl yells Education, the "edu" is on why go and the "cation" is on Education (if you get my meaning) and there is no gap between them!!!

I can now experiance the dublin boot in a whole new way!!!!

    i love apple

Dude, as a big Mac fan, wait 3-4 months and the new iPod is due to come out. They've only released these for the Christmas rush as the ones in development aren't quite ready... the new ones have a 3.5 inch touch screen (horizontally down the ipod) instead of the current 2.5 inch verticle with click wheel... just thought I'd help.

Will these new iPods have a bigger capacity? They finally got to 80g, but will they go to 100g+?
  • i feel so archaic with my goddamn ipod mini. The battery is dying and i just ordered a replacement battery with do it yourself kit for 15 bucks to get it up and running.

i really want the 80 gig ipod though, itsonyl 350 bucks.

    fuck me for being broke

those have been rumored for a year now. you could be waiting another year for one. I say just get this one now if you really want an ipod.

  • Just curious, but will iTunes burn a gapless CD too or does this only apply to iPods? Do you have to purchase the FLAC boots or will it work with the mp3's as well?

Burns gapless cd's, as well as gapless playback on the iPod or 'puter. Works great with the live mp3's I bought from the Ten Club. I'm VERY happy with the upgrade.
